1. ANALYSE OF THE
SOUNDTRACK

2. SHUTTER ISLAND
I could instantly recognise at the beginning of this
film the genre of which is it. There are lots of key
signifiers. The start of Shutter island is very tense
and straight into the action. The non diegetic music
at the beginning of this film is very tense and slow, it
is building up to when the action will start coming
onto the screen. The music is quite sinister and fits
the dark and unknown mood very well. At about 30
seconds into the clip the soundtrack develops and
becomes louder and more powerful. As the title of
`Shutter Island` comes up onto the screen the
soundtrack intensifies a little bit more. Then as the
film opens up the soundtrack stops and the sound is
filled with the sea. From the soundtrack at the
beginning of the film I could tell straight away what
sort of film it was going to be and the genre that it is.
I think that the soundtrack helps the audience
understand that the film is going to be quite creepy
at times and that it may mess with your head.

3. ALONG CAME A
SPIDER
At the beginning of the film `Along Came A Spider` the
soundtrack is very similar to the beginning of the film
`Shutter Island` due to the fact that they share the same
genre. At the beginning of this film there is just deep
quite sincere sort of supernatural sounds. As the
opening credits come up and the film is about 20
seconds in there is some sort of un-natural noise that
sounds like some sort of alienated noise. This is
followed by two people having a distant conversation.
The two people talking sound very distant and not
close to one other. There speech is very loud and clear
over the spooky back noises. It is then muffled as the
back noise intensifies. The sound track is very similar
to the sound of there speech, as the people sound like
they are talking through a broken microphone or they
are in space or something. As the credits continue
along with the spooky, intense music, the camera
changes to an Ariel view of a moving car. This camera
shot backs up the background so-real music as it
shows what they are doing as they are talking to each
other through the microphones, maybe in a helicopter.
