2. Executive Summary
In 1992 I began my venture in Creative Services at a small independent film studio. I
worked my way up from Creative Services Manager at PM Entertainment to Project
Manager in the Marketing Department at Orion Pictures/MGM. I then moved on to
Packaging Manager at Warner Home Video and eventually Creative Director at Warner
Strategic Marketing/Rhino Home Video. I then broke away as an Entrepreneur. I have
grown with this business over the years and have acquired a well-rounded knowledge of this
industry. Having seen the progression and been part of some of the most innovative
campaigns of our time has allowed me the ability to know every step from concept to output.
My personal knowledge and experience in the creative process and print production was an
integral part of the reason why Codeblack Entertainment, with whom I have a non-exclusive
contract for the next year, chose me to head their Creative Services division.
Print campaigns. I’ve learned that perceived value is the key to producing successful
campaigns. People must feel as if they are getting more than what they are paying for when
it come to Home Entertainment. This is where my company, In The Mix Advertising, comes
in! Key Art and Packaging are crucial to the success of a campaign. All print elements
derive from the Key Art. If it has a high-perceived value it will sell. When Key Art and the
overall Package stands out, it facilitates the sales team to convince retailers to order more
than they normally would and, therefore, it can create a positive bottom line.
In The Mix Advertising is committed to offering our clients the most creative and innovative
options for the release of Home Entertainment titles. In conjunction with my creativity and
experience I have a pool of amazing Art Directors that are ready and eager to not only,
incorporate what they have learned from their experiences in some of the top advertising
agencies in the country but also use the latest technology available. I also have an amazing
support team, from a photographer, copywriter, proofreader, messenger to a production
manager that will be accessible any time for Rush projects.
Web and AV projects. I work with one of the most well respected agencies in our industry,
Ocean Park Creative. I met Kathy Pettijohn, Co-owner, through Warner Brothers. I have
always gone back year after year, project after project, because she has always come
through for me. Her team consists of talented Web artist and an AV creative team that have
produced top-notch pieces. You probably work with her already.
Objectives
1. To provide you with top of the line Key Art and Packaging projects for a fraction
of the cost.
2. To provide your creative division a team of Art Directors that are working
freelancers. That means they are currently working on other projects at other
agencies. The reason I chose to do this was to ensure that only the cream-of-
the-crop worked on our projects. These Art Directors are currently, or have
recently worked, on what the studios call “A” list agencies such as BLT and
Intralink, two of the top-notch agencies in our industry.
Mission
To create campaigns we can be proud of. In The Mix Advertising is also dedicated and
committed to uphold good values with respect to the creation of each campaign. Every title
will be treated as priority number one and every person working on that title will be
respected and valued no matter what role they play.

Artists, and Administrative Support I have put together eliminates the high cost a
traditional design agency would charge.
Company Ownership
In The Mix Advertising, LLC is the creation of Carla Portillo a Creative Services Home
Entertainment Veteran. She has been successfully marketing products for the
Entertainment Industry for over 16 years. Her work as Creative Director for WSM/Rhino
Home Video has won several awards for her innovative design concepts and print ideas.
Most importantly as Creative Director she helped grow Rhino Home Entertainment 400% in
2 years. The original concept ideas that were generated during those years allowed the
sales team to easily grow the number of units sold, hence, huge ROI. Her goal is to develop
another award winning marketing strategy that will result in steady growth for all our clients.
We are a corporation with a vast pool of freelance artists and support team. We are
centrally located in West Los Angeles allowing for easier access.
