Saint Patrick's Day became an official feast
day in the early seventeenth century, and it
has become a Irish culture celebration.
3. Saint Patrick’s Day in the Past :
Saint Patrick’s Day became an official
public holiday in Ireland in 1903. It was
thanks to the Bank Holiday and act of the
Unites Kingdom Parliament introduced by
an Irish Member called James O’Mara.
The first Saint Patrick’s Day parade was held
in Dublin in 1931.
But it wasn’t until the mid 1990s that the
government of Ireland began a campaign
to show Ireland and its culture using Saint
Patrick’s Day.
4. Who is Saint Patrick?
Saint Patrick was a Christian missionary and it is known as the
patron Saint of Ireland.
He was preacher and religious of Britain, and it is traditionally
considered as the introducer of the Christian religion on the
island.
Saint Patrick was born on Scotland. At the age of sixteen he
became a prisoner of the Irish pirates and then, he was sold as a
slavery.
After few attempts, he escaped and became a preacher of the
Gospel in Ireland.
Patrick had to explain once what was the Holy Trinity, and he
used as a sample a clover explaining that the Holy Trinity was one
unit but with three different people.

Saint Patrick's Day is a official
holiday in the Republic of
Ireland, Northern
Ireland, Newfoundland and
Labrador and in Montserrat.
But it is also widely celebrated
by the Irish diaspora, especially
in places such as Great
Britain, Canada, the United
States, Argentina, Australia, and
New Zealand.
Saint Patrick's Day is probably
the most widely celebrated
saint's day in the
world, nowadays.

world: Unitates States
St. Patrick's Day, although is not a legal holiday in the
United States, is celebrated throughout the country. It
is observed as a celebration of Irish and Irish American
culture. The holiday has been celebrated on the
North American continent since the late eighteenth
century, prior to the American Revolution. The places
that usually spring to mind are Boston, New York and
Chicago.
7. Saint Patrick’s Day around the
world: Argentina
In Argentina, especially in Buenos Aires, Saint Patrick is
celebrated in designated streets, since the weather is
comfortably warm in March. People dance and drink
only beer throughout the night. In Buenos Aires, the party
is held in the downtown street of Reconquista, where
there are several Irish pubs. The festival is important in
Argentina because of the big immigration of Irish and
Celtics that the country received at the beginning of the
twenty century.
8. Saint Patrick’s Day around the
world: Canada
In some cities like Toronto and Montreal, St Patrick's
Day parades are held on the Sunday closest to
March 17. The parade in Montreal has been held
every year since 1824.
However, the first recorded celebration of St Patrick's
Day was in 1759 by Irish soldiers serving with the British
army following their conquest of part of New France,
a French colony in North America.
