"Prayer"
Kim Knudsvig
TWO KEYS TO EFFECTIVE PRAYER
1) PRAY CONTINUALLY.
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for
this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
2) PRAY FERVENTLY (EARNESTLY).
And He withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt
down and began to pray…. And being in agony He was praying very
fervently; and His sweat became like drops of blood, falling down
upon the ground. Luke 22:41,44
So Peter was kept in the prison, but prayer for him was being made
fervently by the church to God. Acts 12:5
JESUS TEACHING ON PRAYER:
One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one
of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray…” Luke
11:1 "This, then, is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in
heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be
2. done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead
us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.' Matthew
6:9-13
FIVE PRINCIPALS OF PRAYER
1) DRAW NEAR TO GOD IN HIS PRESENCE IN WORSHIP AND
ADORATION.
“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name…” Matthew 6:9
hallowed: hagiazo (hag-ee-ad'-zo); to make holy, purify or
consecrate.
2) ACKNOWLEDGE THAT GOD’S _____________ ARE GREATER THAN
YOUR OWN.
…your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Matthew 6:10
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things
will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33
3) SEEK GOD’S _____________ FOR YOUR EVERY NEED.
Give us today our daily bread…Matthew 6:11
And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches
in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19
4) ASK FOR GOD’S _________________ FOR YOUR SINS.
Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. Matthew
7:12
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our
sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
5) RECOGNIZE AND UTILIZE GOD’S __________ ALONE TO
OVERCOME TEMPTATION.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.'
Matthew 7: 13
And don't let us yield to temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
Matthew 6:13
No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And
God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can
bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so
that you can stand up under it. 1 Corinthians 10:13
