4. 1. We HAVE BEEN saved
“We were saved…” (Romans 8:24)
2. We ARE BEING saved
“Your task now is to work at bring about
your own salvation…” (Philippians 2:12)
3. We WILL BE saved
“Our salvation…is nearer now than it was
when we first came to faith.” (Romans 13:11)
THE 3 TENSES of SALVATION:

5. 1. OPPRESSION
“rulers…authorities...powers...” (Ephesians 6:12)
2. DEATH
“Christ Jesus…destroyed death” (2 Timothy 1:10)
3. BONDAGE
“…we were foolish, disobedient, deceived,
and enslaved...but...He saved us...because
of His mercy.” (Titus 3:3-5)
WE ARE SAVED FROM LIFE-
SUCKING:

6. 1. ABUNDANCE
“I came so that they could have life –
yes, and have it full to overflowing...” (John 10:10)
2. FREEDOM
“The Messiah set us free so we could
enjoy freedom!” (Galatians 5:1)
3. PURPOSE
“...love God/neighbor/self...” (Mark 12:30-31)
WE ARE SAVED INTO LIFE-GIVING:

8. “Once upon a time there was a man who had two sons.
He went to the first one and said, ‘Now then, my boy,
off you go, and do a day’s work in the vineyard.’
‘Don’t want to,’ replied the son; but afterward
he thought better of it, and went.
He went to the other son, and said the same thing.
‘Certainly, Master!’ he said; but he didn’t go.
So, which of the two did what his father wanted?
‘The first,’ (the Chief Priests, and Elders) answered.
MATTHEW 21:28-32

9. “I’m telling you the truth,” Jesus said to them,
“The tax collectors, and prostitutes are going into
God’s Kingdom ahead of you! Yes: John (the Baptist)
came to you, in accordance with God’s righteous
covenant plan, and you didn’t believe him – but the
tax collectors, and prostitutes believed him.
But when you saw it, you didn’t think better of it
afterward, and believe him.”
