Job Descriptions
   Why have them?
   Does they need one and do I want one?
Effective Recruitment
   Recruitment companies are so expensive
   Maybe I’ll take a chance on someone and
    hope they fit
   What should I ask at the interview, what
    shouldn’t I ask
   I’ll recruit internally
Contract
   Do I need to give one legally?
   Employed, Fixed, Self Employed, Casual?
   Can I prevent my ex-employees stealing my
    ideas and my other employees?
   I’m moving office, what if they refuse to
    move building?
Employee Rights
   Have rights before they even have a job
   Maternity / Paternity / Parental Leave
   Doctors & Dentist appointments
   I don’t recognise a union – you’re fired!
   Tribunals
Health & Safety
   How many people can I cram into my office?
   I have a toilet
   The heating never works
   I’ll just call an ambulance
   HSE
   RIDDOR
Payroll
   Tax codes
   They have more than one job
   Fixed term – Ltd comp – do their own
   Holiday pay
   CSA
   Deductions – P45 – P60
Appraisals
   I’m not doing them
   They’re pointless
   My employees hate them
   We all get on and everyone knows what they
    need to be doing

   I care about the company, therefore, my
    employees care about the company

   If they’re sick they’re sick
   I don't want to deal with this and I don't know
    where to start
   Ted had 30 days sick and Jack only had 10
    how is Jack worse?
   Everyone is taking sneaky days off

   Conduct
   Gross misconduct
   Employee Rights
ITS NOT SCARY
There is a lot there, you need to take advise
          and not guess the answer.

Getting it wrong takes time and money to put
                     right.
