 Re-cap: Is Islam a difficult religion?

 Human’s nature in Islam

 Understanding our relationship with:
    ◦ Allah
    ◦ His Creations

Lesson Outline
“…and has not placed upon you in the religion any difficulty…”
                                   Quran, 22:78

Allahreminded us in the verse earlier that Islam is not a difficult religion
and does not get people into difficulties.

The Divine law given to mankind was never meant to put people in
difficulties.

Whenever there are difficulties, Allah gave us the options to help us facing
these situations.

Is Islam a Difficult Religion?
Examples:
To perform the four unit prayers (such as Zuhr, ‘Asr and Isya’) as two units
while travelling.
This allowance (rukhsah) was mentioned in both the Quran and Sunnah.

“And when you travel throughout the land, there is no blame upon you for
                         shortening the prayer…”
                                  Quran, 4:101

The companions asked the prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)
whether they are still allowed to shorten their prayers in times of peace. The
prophet (peace and blessings be upon him replied): “It is an act of charity
which Allah has done to you, so accept His charity”. Hadith narrated by
Imam Muslim.

Is Islam a Difficult Religion?
Examples:
Can a Muslim consume pork?

“He has only forbidden to you dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and
that which has been dedicated to other than Allah . But whoever is forced
[by necessity], neither desiring [it] nor transgressing [its limit], there is no
sin upon him. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.”
                                  Quran, 2:173

Is Islam a Difficult Religion?
The notion of fitrah.

What is fitrah?
  ◦ The term literally means creation; causing something to exist; natural
disposition which a child is born.

  ◦ Technically, it refers to:
     The nature of state of human’s birth (i.e. sinless);
 Unconfirmed state which exist until the individual consciously acknowledges
      his belief.

Human’s Nature in Islam
 Islam is known as religion of fitrah because it addresses the basic
    needs of human being:

     Physical Society Environment Family

Human’s Nature in Islam
“And spend in the way of Allah and do not throw [yourselves] with your
[own] hands into destruction [by refraining]. And do good; indeed, Allah
                        loves the doers of good.”
                               Quran, 2:195

                                                             Physical
                                                              Needs

Human’s Nature in Islam
“O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made
you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most
noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah
                        is Knowing and Acquainted.”
                                 Quran, 49:13

                                                                 Society

Human’s Nature in Islam
 Islam promotes justice and human rights whether the person is a
    believer or a non-believer.

 However, there are claims that Islam is unjust to…

Human’s Nature in Islam
Is Islam a biased and sexist religion?

Is it true that Islam treats Muslim woman unjustly and deprives
her rights?

Are women always dominated by men?

Is there justice in the law of inheritance in Islam?

Is the Islamic dress-code unsuitable for
today’s context?

Human’s Nature in Islam
 As Muslims, we are taught to devote ourselves to
          Allah.

 The devotion is showed to acts of obedience and
          fulfilling our obligations towards:

                                   Fellow
                   Allah
                                   Being

Understanding Our Relationship
 What are the obligations towards Allah that we have to observe?

 But most importantly:

We must be CONSCIOUS of our duty
                           and actions

Understanding Our Relationship
 What are the obligations towards Allah that we have to observe?

And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels,
"Indeed, I will make upon the earth a successive authority." They
said, "Will You place upon it one who causes corruption therein
and sheds blood, while we declare Your praise and sanctify You?"
Allah said, "Indeed, I know that which you do not know.“

                               Quran, 2:30
