This document discusses strategies for educational change regarding ePortfolios and Open Badges. It begins by looking at how questions about these tools have changed over time, from whether students should have email/ePortfolios to how Open Badges can transform learning. Definitions and the relationship between ePortfolios and Open Badges are explored. The document then examines the impact of communities and leadership on innovation in these areas and whether the tools have transformed education. It concludes by considering the potential for assimilation or accommodation of new concepts in the current environment.

While the question five years ago was:
"should every student and employee have
an email?"
Today the question is:
"should every student and employee have
an ePortfolio ?"
6. While ten years ago the question was:
"should every student and employee have an
ePortfolio ?"
Today's question could be:
How could Open Badges transform
learning... and ePortfolio Practices and
Technologies?

Petition by

I started this petition because I believe
the ePortfolio is a complete waste of
time and effort for all Clemson
students. I understand the reason
behind having an ePortfolio, with the
capabilities to see the work completed
by various students to meet set
requirements. However, I find this
"assignment" to be a complete waste of
time and a burden on our students.

Assimilation or
accommodation?
39. Assimilation or
accommodation?
The integration of new concepts and technologies can be
either assimilated by the current environment, or the
current environment can accommodate the
environment to the potential of new technologies – e.g. use
the Internet to broadcast contents like the radio, television
or print (assimilation) or to aggregate knowledge through
social networks (accommodation).
