In building lighting management system with wireless communications
1. In-Building Lighting Management System with
Wireless Communications
Abstract
New industrial approaches have been developed recently in order to achieve an efficient
lighting, which can be summarized in improvements in lamps’ technology and electronic
ballasts, soft start systems, and lighting automatisms. This paper focuses on developing a lighting
management system by making use of wireless sensor networks and DALI ballasts, materials
used in the system are described and results about tests and measurements are presented. The set
points for every parameters is set in the PC and depend upon the data coming from the sensing
node the ON/OFF command will be sent to the corresponding node.
Existing System:
In this system the building automation is controlled by using different sensors for
different parameters. And the controlling is done automatically when any of the parameters get
abnormal. So that status can’t be monitored from remote place. By this method the user or house
owner have to be in home to know the status. Hence we go for new system.
Proposed System:
In this system the lighting automation is done setting set point in the management
section, and by gathering the data from the sensor node the PC in the control compares with the
set point for various parameters and send ON/OFF command to the corresponding node to avoid
the parameters are get further abnormal. Here a DALI ballast system is involved, in which each
node having a individual address and the sensor data’s are going to transmit to monitor section
with that address and the PC will send reply command to the corresponding node with the same
address.

Advantages:
Using Zigbee technology, the control is easily transmitted with individual address.
Its response time is higher than other wireless communications.
Applications:
This system can be used in any conditions and anywhere.
Multiple numbers of devices can be interfaced with this system.
