Ethnic Health Inequalities Today, ethnic minorities make up about 6% of the UK population * There is variation in health amongst various racial groups. * For example,Asians are more prone to heart disease and Caribbeans have a higher incidence of mental problems * However, one of the main reasons for ill-health inequalities amongst ethnic communities seems to arise from RACISM and DISCRIMINATION * Poor “life chances” often leads to poor educational, employment and housing opportunities. * This leads to POVERTY and increased chances of illness and disease.
