3. • Since 1990 Sheila Gray has run an independent acting
studio based in Manhattan, where she teaches weekly
group classes and intensive workshops. Outside of New
York she has worked in Los Angeles, London, Madrid,
Mexico and South America as well.
• Sheila also coaches clients privately for theatre, film,
television and a wide range of special projects. Her
clients range from actors, singers, dancers, models and
comedians to rappers, public figures and on-air
personalities. Though she works with many well-
established performers, Sheila is also renowned for her
ability to develop less experienced ones by giving them
a strong and enduring foundation and technique. She
has also helped established personalities with little or
no experience as actors make a successful career
transition into acting.
4. QUOTES
• "I think of the script as a map and as I try to navigate my
way through
Sheila is like my personal GPS. She helps me chart my
characters
emotional journey and find the courage to draw on my
instincts to get
from point A to point B. Sheila's objectivity and analytical
skills
are truly remarkable. She is able to stand back and look at
the big
picture, which allows me to focus on the details. Sheila is
an amazing
resource and a good friend."

5. PRESS
• Julianne Nicholson is most likely to turn to her coach,
Sheila Gray, "when I'm working on a character who is
very different from the person I am—in other words,
when I'm trying to understand someone who thinks
and reacts differently than I would. Material that I
don't initially connect with" would also lead Nicholson
to work it through with her coach. She says that she did
not routinely work out with a coach initially, but, after
taking a basic acting exercise class with Gray over five
years ago, followed by scene and "improve" classes,
Nicholson decided to work with Gray individually. "I like
the fact that she looks you right in the eye and is direct
in her approach
6. PRivatE CoaChing
• Working one on one we can form a clear plan of
how to best fulfill their goals whether it be in a
single session where they are preparing for a
specific audition or a series of sessions where they
are creating the foundation of a technique or
preparing a character they have already been cast
as for a movie, series or play. I work privately with
clients of all levels and my only requirement is a
passion for acting and a commitment to learning
and growth.
7. Performance enhancement
• Through the years I have worked with many non-
actors to strengthen their communication,
performance and presentation skills. I am able to
teach people tools that help them relax, find their
center, discover and define what it is they want to
say, gauge their audience and learn how to
communicate and connect with them.
• We define their goals and decide how to best reach
them within the performance or presentation and
then rehearse doing so through relaxation, script,
improvisation, repetition and feedback.
