- They deserve to be the expert on what they are reading. They want to be able to interact with each other as part of a classroom community and even as a part of a global community.The instructional need: students don’t like completing the reading log that is required. Common student complaint is that they do not get to talk to anyone about what they are reading and that is the best part of reading.Teacher complaint is that students are not responding with higher level thinking, they are doing enough to get by, not concerned about the grade.
- Provides students with an authentic audience that will interact with them! Automatically creates a digital portfolio for student work so that they can track their progress. Promotes higher level discussion of the literature that students are reading through commenting
- AnalysisWhat exists currently is not motivating to students and does not provide them with the opportunity to interact with their peers about what they are reading.
