This document provides information about the library at Basanti Devi College. It summarizes the library's resources and services. The library has a central library, departmental libraries, and reading rooms. It has over 30,000 printed books and journals as well as over 100,000 e-books and 4,500 e-journals. Services include book lending, reference services, career guidance, and access to online resources. Resources are developed in the library by purchase & donation
After receiving funds from the UGC & the State, Library Committee
decides fund allotment depending on the requirement & strength of
the Department.
Newly formed Departments and Students requisitions are specially
taken care of
Besides faculties, students can provide their requisition and it gets
priority over the faculties
Only Good contents are purchased
Certain % of the funds are allocated for storybooks & other General
Reference works
Recently we have earmarked some amount for the development of
Film Collection for our Cine Club

Very Recently we have purchased MARK & UNICODE
compatible Library automation software SOUL 2.0 from the
UGC –INFLIBNET and its content database is being created .
Once the DB is created basic library services will be automated
with Barcode.
Regular Dusting is done by our staffs with our own Wet
Vacuum Cleaner
Pesting is done quarterly and it is outsourced
