THE TERMS RELATED WITH
SIMPLE PENDULUM
SIMPLE PENDULUM
A simple pendulum consists of a metal ball
(bob) which is suspended freely from an
inelastic string.
LENGTH
The length of a simple pendulum is the distance
between the point at which it is hung from the stand and the
centre of the bob.
MASS OF THE BOB
We have use a metal ball as bob. The mass of the bob
can be found out using a common balance.
OSCILLATION
Oscillation is the to and fro motion of the
pendulum about a fixed point.
EQUILIBRIUM POSITION
When the pendulum is at rest, it is said to be in
equilibrium.
AMPLITUDE
The maximum displacement of the bob from the
equilibrium position is its amplitude.
PERIOD
The time taken for one oscillation is period.
= Time taken for a definite number of
oscillation/ Number of oscillation.
T = t/h
FREQUENCY
It is the number of oscillations per second. F
= n/t
