6. Azuma's definition of AR in 1997
Augmented Reality (AR) is a variation of Virtual Reality (VR).
VR technologies completely immerse a user inside a synthetic
Environment and while immersed, the user cannot see the real
world around him. In contrast, AR allows the user to see the
real world, with virtual objects superimposed upon or
composited with the real world.
Therefore, AR supplements reality, rather than completely replacing it. Ideally,
it would appear to the user that the virtual and real objects coexisted in the same
space, similar to the effects achieved in the film "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?"

9. Wikipedia's definition of AR first added in 2002
2002:
Augmented reality (abbreviated AR) is an environment that
includes both virtual reality and real-world elements.
For instance, an AR user might wear translucent goggles;
through these, he could see the real world, as well as
computer-generated images projected on top of that world.
2013:
Augmented reality (AR) is a live, direct or indirect, view
of a physical, real-world environment whose elements are
augmented by computer-generated sensory input such as
sound, video, graphics or GPS data.
