10. Media Education –
general didactics or subject didactics?
In subject didactics, the context is delimited by the
subject, knowledge domain or cultural domain.
Fields of subject didactics have own research and
development traditions, which should be
acknowledged in developing the field.
Media education can be seen also as a general
didactical matter since e.g. media literacy
penetrates most of the functions of the society.
