2. According to IBM, 80% of data captured
today is unstructured, from sensors used to
gather climate information, posts to social
media sites, digital pictures and videos,
purchase transaction records, and cell
phone GPS signals, to name a few. All of
this unstructured data is Big Data.
Gartner defines Big Data as high volume,
velocity and variety information assets that
demand cost-effective, innovative forms of
information processing for enhanced
insight and decision making.

3. • Each engine of a jet on a flight from London to New York
generates 10TB of data every 30 minutes
• In 2013 internet data, mostly user-contributed, will
account for 1,000 exabytes. An exabyte is a unit of
information equal to one quintillion bytes
• Open weather data collected by the National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Association has an annual estimated value of
$10bn
• Every day we create 2.5 quintillion bytes of data
• 90% of the data in the world today has been created in
the past two years
• Every minute 100,000 tweets are sent globally
• Google receives two million search requests every minute

4. Current Usage of Big Data
• Recommendation Engine, Network Monitoring, Sentiment
Analysis, Fraud Detection, Risk Modeling, Customer
Experience Analytics, Marketing Campaign Analysis,
Customer Churn Analysis, Research & Development,
Social Graph Analysis
• Facebook Store access and analyses 30+ Petabytes user
data
• Linked-in process and mines Petabytes of user data to
power “People You May Know”
• Amazon crunches clickstream and historical user data to
recommend products
• Akamai analyses 75 Millions events per day to better
target advertisements
• Decoding the human GNOME used to take 10 Years. It
can now be done in 7 Days

5. Big data analytics is the application of advanced analytic
techniques to very large, diverse data sets that often include
varied data types and streaming data.
Big data analytics explores the granular details of business
operations and customer interactions that seldom find their
way into a data warehouse or standard report, including
unstructured data coming from sensors, devices, third
parties, Web applications, and social media - much of it
sourced in real time on a large scale.
• Organizations are discovering that important predictions
can be made by sorting through and analyzing Big Data.
• However, since 80% of this data is "unstructured", it
must be formatted (or structured) in a way that that
makes it suitable for data mining and subsequent
analysis.
• Hadoop is the core platform for structuring Big Data, and
solves the problem of making it useful for analytics
purposes.

6. Cloud computing is a new model for delivering computing
resources. It gives the illusion of having an infinite amount of
resources available on demand. Users do not have to
commit to a given software or hardware. They can simply
rent the resources they need, and even better, only pay for
what they use for the amount of time they use it.
Cloud computing enables users, through automation, to
self-provision the resources they need. This automation, the
availability of pre-defined resources, and economics of
scale is what brings costs down allowing any individual to
start working on a server paying as little as 10 cents per
hour. Cloud computing usage has grown exponentially.

7. Software-defined networking (SDN) is a modern approach
to networking that eliminates the complex and static nature
of legacy distributed network architectures through the use
of a standards-based software abstraction between the
network control plane and underlying data forwarding plane,
including both physical and virtual devices.
• 89% of business are at least discussing SDN
• 64% of business expecting training their staff for SDN
• 73% expects cost overrun
• 64% expects changing the way their IT departments
works
• 63% expects staff not knowledgeable about SDN
• 67% expects security issues
• 67% aware about MULTIVENDOR SDN Model

8. The Internet of things is a concept that aims to extend the
benefits of the regular Internet—constant connectivity,
remote control ability, data sharing, and so on—to goods in
the physical world. Foodstuffs, electronics, appliances,
collectibles: All would be tied to local and global networks
through embedded sensors that are "always on."
Six distinct types of applications are emerging in two broad
categories: information and analysis and automation and
control.

Analytics
Cloud
• This cycle has started with Big Data, which is
being collected from multiple devices,
applications & people from internet of things.
• Analytics are required for analysis to reach from
Data-to-Insights-to-Decisions, because of SDN it
will be more real time/ near real time, ultimately it
will reduce decision time
• Cloud Environments will work as platform to
provide efficiency, scalability, robustness & data
security.
• SDN will replace traditional network monitoring
systems, SDN will work as real time Big Data
source from devices connected.
• Internet of things will allow consumers to set
their fridge to order new groceries for delivery
when the eggs run out or the milk expires. Forget
to turn off the oven? No problem, turn a dial on
your smartphone from anywhere in the world. No
need to turn off the lights: Your rooms will know
when you enter or leave, setting all systems just
the way you like them, since they will be able to
detect when the phone in your pocket is near.
