• As a part of our curriculum, we were required
to do a project on the subject of Export
Marketing. We are grateful to the University
as well as to Model College for providing us
such an opportunity to present a project on
such subject by which we could get an
industrial exposure.
• The experience & cooperation we got from
them is unforgettable. We got handy
information from the executives as well as the
staff of the company.
• We are extremely grateful to our Prof. Shri
Hari who coordinated us & without their
guidance; it would have been a very difficult
task for us to manage such a huge project.

• Letter of Credit
It can be defined as an undertaking given by
the importer’s bank to make payment to the
exporter within the terms and conditions of
the Letter of Credit.
• Shipping Bill
It is an important customs document. C & F
Agent prepares it. It enables to obtain
customs clearance. It is prepared in five
copies.

• Bill of Lading
It is an important document as it gives title of
goods. On the basis of bill of Lading, the
importer can take possession of goods from
the customs.

Packing List
It is a list of goods, which are ready for
delivery. This list is required for custom
clearance.
•


Proforma Invoice
The Proforma Invoice gives a clear idea to the
importer in respect of terms and conditions of
sale and the price of goods; that would be
purchased by the importer. The Proforma
Invoice helps the importer to obtain a LC and
in obtaining import license.

It is a basic export document. It contains all the
information in which is required for the
preparation of all other documents

• Mate’s receipt
It is issued by the mate (cargo officer) of the
ship acknowledging the receipt of goods on
board the ship. It states the number of
packages and their condition at the time of
loading on the ship. It is required to obtain bill
of lading from the shipping company.
• Certificate of Origin
It is an important document in export trade. It
is issued by concerned authorities such as
EPC’s, Chambers of Commerce etc. It states
the origin of goods.

• Form A.R.E. 1
It is used for excise clearance. ARE stands for
“ Application for Removal of Exports”. At
present five copies of ARE 1 form is required
for excise clearance in respect of exports.

Freight Invoice
It is the document where in freight
charges are included. This document is
required during custom clearance.
•

Marine Insurance Policy
This document is not actually required in
the formalities of export trade. This is just
a receipt of Marine Insurance policy
although it is not mandatory but strictly
recommended.

Bill of Exchange
This is also a very regular commercial
document. A Bill of Exchange is an
unconditional promise to pay sum on the date
as mention in the bill to the drawer or his order
