Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a complex endocrine disorder which affects 5% to10% of women worldwide. The disease is caused by insulin resistant that results in hyperinsulinaemia, and further stimulates the excessive production of androgen and luteinizing hormone. Hyperandrogenism which is referred to the excessive production of androgen leads to the clinical conditions like acne, obesity, alopecia and irregular menstruation. Previous studies have shown the risk factors of PCOS include age, ethnicity, obesity, smoking, alcohol consumption and menstrual problem. A cross sectional study was conducted at infertility clinic in Hospital Serdang. Simple random sampling was adopted to recruit 138 women who attended the infertile clinic. Data including sociodemographic data, lifestyle factors, medical disorders, gynaecology disorders, family medical history, menstrual problem, diagnostic criteria of PCOS, metabolic parameters, and causes of infertility, were retrieved from medical record. Chi square test and SPSS version 21 was used for data analysis. Among 138 participants, 37.7% are diagnosed with PCOS and 62.3% are not diagnosed with PCOS. Among PCOS patients, 92.3% are found to age less than 35 years old, 90.4% Malay, 75% with menstrual problem and 80.8% obese. Age, menstrual problem, and obesity were significantly associated with PCOS diagnosis. Measures like medical education and healthy lifestyle should be implemented to prevent the complications of PCOS.

Determination of nutritional status is closely related to the determination of dietary patterns should be given to infants. Nutrition is very important role in mental, physical development, and human productivity. In this study, the system based on android is developed to determine the nutritional status of infants by using Fuzzy Sugeno. Indicator variables are age, height, circle head, and body weight according to the male or female. In this study, the results of measurements of nutritional status of children with Fuzzy Sugenoare tested by comparing the nutritional quality of the data Posyandu toddler by using anthropometric tables. The results of the evaluation measurement accuracy in this application are compared with the results of manual calculation based infant growth charts according to WHO standards. Therefore, these applications can be used to help the community in monitoring the nutritional status of children so that the growth of children is more appropriate in line with expectations.

Abstract—Diabetes Mellitus is a lifestyle disease it is increasing with increase of urbanization. It is a side effect of development. Nowadays with the development of community it is also on increase trend. So this study was conducted on 250 patients of diabetes attended at Diabetic Clinic of SMS Hospital Jaipur, with the aim to find out socio-demographic profile of these diabetes cases. General information about the these case was gathered in a pre-designed semi-structured performa. It was found in this study that majority of cases were in age group of 31 to 45 years with slight male dominance. Education wise majority were Graduate followed by secondary educated and others. Likewise occupation wise majority were either unemployed of professional. Majority of cases were from Socio economic Class II and III. So it can be concluded that diabetes is a disease of middle age slight male dominance and of educated middle class individuals. Further studies are required to establish this fact.

Background: Primary dysmenorrhea is one of the commonest menstrual problems among adolescent girls which affects their daily activities and academic activities. Hence, preventing and managing dysmenorrhea is a crucial aspect of adolescent reproductive health. Providing health education is an ideal method to bring about awareness regarding the management of dysmenorrhea which further can help them to improve their reproductive health. Methods And Materials: A descriptive design was adopted. Data was collected with structured interview schedule among 300 adolescent girls studying in Mangalore One CBSC School and Kanachur Public School, Mangalore. Result: The mean age at menarche of the participants was 12.7 ± 0.697 years. More than half of adolescent girls (52.3%) had 3 to 4 days of menses with the cycle of 28 to 30 days (64.7%). Three fourth of them had experienced dysmenorrhea in last three cycles among which 77.2% had mild symptoms and remaining had moderate symptoms. All most all of the girls (99.6%) have abdominal pain followed by irritability (76.4%). Other common symptoms experienced by girls were pain radiated to the thighs and legs (48%), back ache (39.6%), lack of concentration (37.8%), headache (30.7%). About 48% of the adolescent girls had limitation of daily activities during menstruation. Majority of the participants (70.7%) did not have any physician consultation and 77.8% use self medications, mainly tablet paracetamol (67.6% ). There was a significant association between the level of dysmenorrhea and age, educational status and age at menarche of adolescent girls (p< 0.05). Conclusion: Most of the adolescent girls have mild to moderate level of dysmenorrhea which has affected their daily activities. Hence educational activities are necessary to increase the adolescent girls’ awareness on dysmenorrhea and its management.

Background: Nutrition is an important component of any physical fitness program. The main dietary goal for active individuals is to obtain adequate nutrition to optimize health fitness. Health behavioral patter ns, especially eating patterns, established in childhood often carry over into adulthood, and some of the unhealthy ones are later associated with adult morbidity and mortality. Aims and Objectives: The study aimed at assessing effectiveness of planned teaching programme on knowledge and attitude regarding importance of diet among high school students and finding the correlation between knowledge and attitude regarding importance of diet and find the association between knowledge and attitude with selected demographic variables. Materials and Methods: knowledge of high school students was assessed by structured knowledge questionnaire and attitude was assessed by rating scale, 50 students were selected by purposive sampling technique. Results: The findings of the study related to knowledge revealed that, in the pre test 23 (46%) had the average knowledge, 22(44%) had good knowledge. The post test knowledge scores shows 13(26%) with good knowledge and 33(66%) with excellent knowledge. There is a significant difference between the pretest and post test level of knowledge [t value (t49=14.63)]. The findings of the study related to attitude revealed that, 46(92%) had the good attitude & 3 (6%) had excellent attitude. Whereas after administration of PTP no one had poor attitude, 20(40%) with good attitude, & 29(58%) had excellent attitude. There is a significant difference between the pretest and post test level of attitude [t value (t49=8.65)]. The correlation between knowledge and attitude score shows that mild correlation (r=0.666). There is a significant association between knowledge scores with selected demographic variables like age (X2=4.5, df=1), sex (X2=5.56, df=1), father education (X2=12, df=1), father occupation (X2=8.41, df=1), mother education (X2=10.54, df=1), family income (X2=23.72, df=1), type of diet (X2=5.88, df=1),source of information regarding diet (X2=6.77, df=1). There is a significant association between attitude scores with selected demographic variables like father occupation (X2=19.42, df=1), mother education (X2=5.88, df=1), mother occupation (X2=4.11, df=1), family income (X2=5.89, df=1). Conclusion: The findings of the study supports the need for providing information to improving the knowledge regarding importance of diet among high school children.

Acute respiratory tract infections in young children take a heavy toll on life among urban slum dwellers and where medical care is not available or sought. The effective way to reduce deaths from ARI is early and prompts treatment as well as health education. The urban slum population is more vulnerable to health risk as they face many risk factors like living condition, sanitation, health care facilities. In this pre experimental study, the variables were assessed through pre and post test followed by educational intervention for 476 mothers of under five children residing in urban slums of Bangalore District. The data regarding socio demographic variables of mothers and knowledge of mothers on preventive practices of acute respiratory tract infections was collected through structured interview schedule. The major study findings indicate that there is significant difference between the knowledge of practice scores of mothers between pre and post test. The results also indicates that there is significant relationship between knowledge scores of mothers with their socio demographic variables and community based health education could enhance the knowledge of mothers regarding preventive practices of acute respiratory tract infections in their young children.

Introduction:Immunization is one of the well known and most effective method of preventing childhood diseases. Aims And Objectives:1) To describe socio-demographic profile of children between 12-23 months of age attending immunization centre, RIMS, Ranchi. 2) To Evaluate the factors affecting immunization status among children between 12-23 months of age attending immunization centre, RIMS, Ranchi. Materials and Methods: The study was cross-sectional and descriptive type. Place of study was immunization centre, RIMS, Ranchi. Study duration was from 1 September to 30 November 2016. Results: In the present study 110 Children were studied in which maximum number were 19 months of age. Majority were hindu (79.9%) male(63.6%) of Urban locality(92.7%). Education of the parents was found to be significantly associated with the immunization status of children. Conclusion: Increasing the literacy status of the parents can alone can bring a major difference in immunization coverage among Children.

Clinical Safety and Side Effects of Intra Dermal regimen of Tissue culture Anti-rabies Vaccine-Rabies is 100% fatal but preventable disease. WHO recommends Tissue culture Anti-rabies Vaccines for post exposure treatment but this prophylaxis becomes expensive. So for reducing the 1/6th cost of this prophylaxis intradermal ARV regime was also recommended. But again there is a question mark for balance between cost effectiveness and safty so this cross sectional study was carried out in year 2013 on 654 recipients of Purified Chick Embriyo Cell Vaccine (PCECV) anti-rabis vaccine (ARV) at Anti Rabies Clinic (ARC) of a tertiary-care teaching hospital (SMS) at Jaipur, Rajasthan. Side effects were observed during the follow up visits on days 3, 7 and 28. Though all the recipients complained of local side effects at site of inoculation but these symptoms were relieved by simple administration of paracetamol and ceterizine orally. The side effects (local symptoms) noted on First dose were local itch (4%), local pain (3.8%), low grade fever (2.1%) and the local signs noted are local induration (22.3%), local erythema (1.2%). Same pattern of sign and symptoms were observed in D3 and D7 dose of injection but in decreased frequency. None of the cases had anaphylaxis or regional lymphadenopathy. Thus, this cost effective way of treating the animal bite cases using PCECV in Intra Dermal Rabies Vaccination (IDRV) is recommended to deal with the burden of animal bite cases for the prevention of Rabies in India.

Background UP, India’s most popular state recorded the most diarrhoeal deaths. 22.21 deaths nationwide over five year to 2017. Method A quantitative evaluative approach using questionnaire on diarrhoea. Pre experimental one group pre test and post test design was used. Convenient sampling technique was used to select 30 samples from the selected Anganwadi in Lucknow. Initially researcher got permission for study from concern authorities. Pre test done followed by structured teaching program on prevention and home management of diarrhoea for 50 min followed by 10 min session of question and answer. A post test was conducted after 2 weeks of structured teaching program. The tools used for data collection, part 1 demographic variables, part 2 assessing knowledge on home management of diarrhoea. Results the pre test mean value of knowledge 23Â±1.9 was lesser than post test mean value 23.62Â±1.75. The effectiveness of STP, the obtained, “t- test value is 9.469. which is found to be greater than the, “t- table value p=0.000 0.01 level at 29df. Since the obtained t value is significant at p 0.01 level, therefore research hypotheses H1 is accepted. It is inferred that, there is significant difference between pre test and post test knowledge regarding diarrhoea among mothers of under five year children. Conclusion The study concludes that the structured teaching program was very effective in providing knowledge prevention and home management of diarrhoea among mothers.
