What I’m talking about is what works for me\nI’ve come from a background that has largely been in the corporate world so that influences my approach\nBut I’ve also spent a lot of time talking with other freelancers that I see as successful\nAnd I’ve spent time with sole traders in a number of other industries asking them about how they've been successful\n
Where are you? How much time are you burning on stuff that doesn’t make money\n

Survive - food, roof, clothes\nLive well - holiday, free time (I schedule half a weekday off when things are going well)\nBHAG - big, hairy audacious goal - funds a frivolous “something”\n

Lay off debit cards as if there a fraud issue it’ll be your trading account that gets hammered and it can take many weeks or longer to recover funds. \nWith a credit card, it’s the bank’s money that’s at risk and not your’s.\n

My experience has been that as editors have moved around that I’ve been able to keep their old publication as a client and get their new one.\n
