I was at dinner with a group of Mompreneurs and the hot topic of discussion was how to balance it all. As Moms, we want to be there for all the Mom things like school events, after school activities, and sports while building and growing successful businesses. So how does one do it all, and do it well? One day at a time. You can’t be everywhere, doing everything. When you say “yes” to one thing, you are saying ”no” to another. In my years of having and raising children, I have learned I need to do one thing, have a plan. The plan never works out of course, but at least I have a blueprint to follow and adjust along the way. Without my weekly plan, I am sure that little if anything would have ever gotten done due to the constant interruptions and emergencies of raising 4 boys and a business under the same roof. By making that plan and scheduling when I was focusing on business or family, I was able to ensure I was devoting time to both. Everything is clearer when it is written down, so by making my plan I could adjust the time before I got out of balance. My secret to succeeding every week? Only schedule Monday to Thursday, leaving Friday as the day I catch up on all the things that didn’t get done earlier in the week. The bonus to this is that occasionally my plan worked, all the schedules went as planned and no major emergencies occurred, so I had a Friday to do as I pleased. As a Mompreneur with a busy family of six, that was a rare event!
