3. Why it was made The magna carta was made to limit the powers of the monarchy. And to preserve the basic legal rights of all free men in England. It was made after a rebellion in 1215 against King John of England, a corrupt, absolute monarch who angered all those under the influence of his power.

4. Why it was made To stop the king from interfering with the popes religious matters Stopped the king from being able to increase taxes without the consent of a council of nobles Allowed fair trial for all men

6. King John Lived from 1166 to 1216 He was a very unpopular king, the nobles saw him as not being fit to be king

7. The Magna Carta Today Although most of the charter's ideas were revised or have since been repealed, the Magna Carta's fundamental tenets provided the outline for modern democracies. Taking a cue from the document more than five centuries later, American revolutionaries incorporated many of the Magna Carta's basic ideas into another important piece of parchment – the U.S. Constitution.
