2. Our Trip! My mother and father and I will be leaving Las Vegas Friday, February 20 th and staying in Lake Tahoe until Wednesday, February 25 th . In total, we will be spending five amazing nights in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.
3. Pros of chosen transportation method: I have decided that driving to Lake Tahoe is the less expensive and more convenient option. This way, we won’t have to rent a car once we arrive, which is a relief because that would take time out of our day, and we wouldn’t feel to comfortable driving a car that is not ours. We have the luxury of carrying as much baggage as we can stuff into our car. we can stop wherever we like, for however long we choose. And most importantly, we won’t have to pay over $200 dollars for a round trip!
4. Mileage, Fuel cost, and estimated time: We will be driving our 1991, Mercedes 420 SEL to Lake Tahoe. It gets about 20 miles to the gallon. Right now, the price of gas per gallon is $2.15. It is 443.10 miles from Las Vegas to Lake Tahoe, that is about 7 hours. So our fuel cost will be $48.83 to get from Vegas to our destination. Driving there and back will cost us $97.66 in gas. This trip will put 886.2 miles on our car.
5. Skiing! We will be skiing at the Sierra at Tahoe on February 21 st , 22 nd , and 24 th . I have decided to buy the 3-Pak. This is a $147 lift ticket per adult and $126 lift ticket for children ages 13-22 (me!) valid for three days of skiing. It is a non-transferable and non-refundable package that is available over the internet.
6. Meals Since we have purchased the 3-Pak for skiing, we are eligible for the Passholder Food and Beverage Card. We will put $100 on three cards, one for each of us. With this F&B Card we can get $120 worth of food and get 20% more value for our money. These cards are valid at most of the food outlets at the Sierra-at-Tahoe resort. Since we will be at the resort for three days and eat three meals each day, we will get to spend $20 a meal per person. I put aside $450 for the remaining three days when we won’t be at the Resort, this way we can eat at more fancy places and get to spend about $50 for each of our meals, per person. In total, we will spend $750 on food throughout our trip.
7. Nightlife At night we plan on seeing the casinos. Our family loves to travel, we are master tourists. So we will make it a mission to visit all the casinos that our near us. We will go to Harrah’s, Harvey’s, Bill’s Casino, Lakeside Inn and Casino, and Montbleu; all of these all located in Stateline. We’ll also check out Mott Canyon Bar & Grill, Beacon Bar & Grill, and Cobo Wabo. It is said that there is some great food and late night entertainment at these places and the locals and tourist alike seem to really enjoy them. There is no need for extra expenses, we will spend the money we set aside on food if we plan on eating here.
8. Condo expenses We will be staying in a condo located in Incline Village. This cozy place has two bedrooms and two full bathrooms is also equipped with a fire place and a washer and dryer. It is near the beach and casinos. It will cost us $661.92 to stay there for five nights.
