IP Telephony solution for hospital Prepared for Dr. Mashiur Rahman ETE – 405 Prepared by M Salman Sattar ID # 062057045
IP Telephony for Hospital. The healthcare industry depends on innovation to provide the best possible service to its ultimate customer, the patient. A converged data and voice network allows healthcare providers to access, manipulate, and archive voice, text, and displayed information in ways that help cut costs and enhance productivity. An IP telephony solution can maintain the communication system over a hospital with more reliability and can less the entire cost. IP telephony system is the most modern system to transfer data. Many different IP telephony service provider ( for example- HP ProCurve IP Telephony solutions) has helped create tools that give doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and medical staff access to scheduling, medical records, and lab results through IP phones or other mobile devices, such as PDAs or tablet PCs.
Benefits of IP telephony in Hospital Obviously there are many benefits and facilities if a Hospital set up IP Telephony services. Day by day the Hospitals of development country are much more relying on IP telephony services and after seeing them other Hospitals also willing to promote IP services. The benefits of IP Telephony services, which should be notable Far-reaching flexibility: In the healthcare environment, where analog is still preferred in applications such as patient rooms and emergency rooms, business agility and being able to choose the right solution are critical. Many hospitals have protected its investment by using IP phones and avoided retraining of busy doctors and nurses. IP system created all analog and digital requirement on one architecture and a single dialing plan, which creates a huge advantage to Hospitals. Faster disaster: It is very easy to give home care services to the patients by using IP phones at the time of disaster. For example - When Hurricane Charley hit Florida Hospital were able to quickly relocate home care service nurses to a dry facility eight miles away by simply putin 60 Nortel IP Phones off the main switch.
Higher productivity and lower costs: It is easy to lowering its Total Cost of Ownership, with improved employee productivity and cost savings in many areas by using IP phones. For example - at one small location, IP Telephony eliminated the need to expand the fiber remote to add phones. Now the callers are finding shorter wait times and faster resolution of calls, while center managers are monitoring agent activity remotely using a IP based phone. IP telephony makes it possible to reduce administrative and management complexity and expense, lower overall network infrastructure costs, and cut the price of application integration. Intelligence is no longer tied into the PBX but to the client-server architecture — an end-user phone becomes plug-and-play. Future proofing: By exploiting the flexibility of an IP network it is easy to growth or expansion and to meet the needs of a distributed workforce well into the future. IP telephony serves as a strategic enabler for cost savings and other factors that allow businesses to gain a competitive edge. One area in which IP telephony offers significant savings is network management and maintenance.
How Patients can be Beneficiary Its not like only hospital management can get the benefits by implementing IP telephony. The Patients can also be the beneficiary by IP telephony system. – ,[object Object],regarding the whereabouts of a doctor and can put calls through to them more quickly and easily, improving response times and efficiency. • This technology can use for giving alarm to the each nurse of the hospitals when it is time to give medicines to patients. • Doctors can also become aware by this IP telephony service when it is time to visit patient or where there is a serious patient in emergency Unit. • Children and newborn babies who did not take the fundamental vaccinations this IP telephony system can alert their parents. • Well-organized sit reservation service for the patients in the hospitals will be available by using this IP telephony solution. • This solution will remind the pregnant woman of their each month’s appointments.

Bangladeshi Agricultural sector and Technology Bangladesh is one of the Agriculture based countries in the world. Around 32% of GDP of the country comes from the agricultural sector. But, most of the farmers of Bangladesh are still in lack of modern agricultural knowledge. Still they apply traditional methods in agricultural sector. In Bangladesh there is no common technological platform for the potential users (policy makers, researchers, teachers and students, farmers and other activists) of agricultural information to work cooperatively. Agribusiness using IP Telephony
Proposal for agribusiness and Introduction Proposal ‘e-Agriculture’, Agriculture Information System, Spatial Database, Location Based Service and marketing for agribusiness man. Introduction “e-Agriculture” as an emerging field, which combines agricultural informatics, agricultural development and entrepreneurship. ‘e-Agriculture’ means efficient use of information and communication technologies for analyzing, designing and implementing existing and innovative applications to help the agricultural sector. Agribusiness using IP Telephony
Area of e-Agriculture • Weather Information • Price Information • Production and Cultivation Techniques • Plant Nutrients and Water Usage • Educations and Health Information • Government and Non-government Facilities • Demands and Current Stock Information • Pesticides for Insect Information Agribusiness using IP Telephony
PRESENT STATUS OF e-AGRICULTURE IN BANGLADESH In Bangladesh ‘e-Agriculture’ is not new idea. Some important steps taken so far is as follows: ,[object Object]
In 2005, a group of researchers of D.Net (Development Research Network, Bangladesh)	proposed the idea of “Pallitathya Help Center” and conducted a project on it.
The application of Geographic Information System (GIS) as a computer assisted spatial information system in Bangladesh started more than a decade ago in early 1990s. Agribusiness using IP Telephony
PROPOSED ARCHITECTURE The main component of the architecture is database server, which contains the spatial database that stores information about weather, price, production, cultivation technique and nutrients of a crop. The database is connected to the Internet and Multimedia Message Service Centre (MMSC), i.g. call center. Agribusiness using IP Telephony
IMPLEMENTATION TECHNIQUE For implementing the system we need to analyze the geographic nature of Bangladesh. We need to divide the whole Bangladesh into several small areas to forecast weather. Beside this we need this division for disseminating the proper information about price, nutrition etc of a crop. ,[object Object],	Bangladesh has total area of 154439 km2 of which 8892 km2. Bangladesh lies between 20o34/ and 26o38/ north latitude and between 88o1/ and 92o40/ east longitude.Bangladesh has 64 districts with approximately 476 Thanas (the lowest level of administrative unit) distributed in the six divisions. Agribusiness using IP Telephony
IMPLEMENTATION TECHNIQUE CONT. ,[object Object],We would use vector data structures for convenience and also characterize them using the attribute data. According to the geographical analysis we may represent each Thana as a polygon vector data and also name it by that Thana. The attribute types should be text as well as multimedia or XML so that one can read out and even hear querying the database. Agribusiness using IP Telephony
IMPLEMENTATION TECHNIQUE CONT. (Spatial Data Structures) Agribusiness using IP Telephony
IMPLEMENTATION TECHNIQUE CONT. ,[object Object],	According to our need we may provide two different accessing methods for two different categories of stakeholders to the spatial database: 01. Accessing spatial database from fixed devices (i.e. desktop PC) using Internet by educational, research & development activists. 02. Accessing spatial database from mobile devices (i.e. mobile phones) using LBS of telecommunication network by the field worker and farmers from their respective places. Agribusiness using IP Telephony
IMPLEMENTATION TECHNIQUE CONT. (Accessing Methods) Accessing Through Internet It requires the user to manually input his/her location (or location of interest) in the form of a Thana name or geographic coordinates to get the appropriate spatial agricultural information. Agribusiness using IP Telephony
IMPLEMENTATION TECHNIQUE CONT. (Accessing Methods) Accessing Using Location Based Service Location Based Service refers to the category of services, which are provided to a subscriber under a mobile telephone network based on his or her position. There are two most important industry standard mobile positioning system for LBS 1. Global positioning system (GPS), which requires GPS enabled mobile device takes the current position of the user from the satellite. 2. Network based positioning system in which the current location is rendered from the current cell in which the user is located.
EFFECTIVENESS The proposed system is an efficient approach for implementing e-Agriculture in Bangladesh for the following reasons: 1. In the earlier cases some steps has been taken to implement e-Agriculture using traditional database structure, which has failed to provide necessary support in case of expansion. 2. Here we have also defined an easier and robust accessing method for the end user. 3. This accessing method also made the system reachable to the end user of each corner in Bangladesh. 4. We have provided a simple menu based application for query any data from the database server for the end user. 5. Since in our approach we do not need to implement the whole system at a time, it gives an opportunity to develop and implement the e-Agriculture in distributed nature. Telemedicine using IP-Telephonyfor ensuring better healthcare in Bangladesh A Presentation for ETE 405 - IP TELEPHONY Presented By Ratul Prakash Saha
What is Telemedicine? Telemedicine is the use of Communication Technology such as Videoconferencing to provide healthcare solution to remote users. In this system the basic idea is to connect patients with doctors who are not within the physical reach of each other. The telemedicine experiance is just like visiting a Doctor in real life. Diagnosis, treatment and checkup – all can be done using this. This service is specially suited for those who does not have acess to proper healtcare. In this technology the socio-economic barrier concerning the Treatment can be avoided. Telemedicine ensures right medical service at the right place at the right time

  • 46. IP Telephony solution for hospital Prepared for Dr. Mashiur Rahman ETE – 405 Prepared by M Salman Sattar ID # 062057045

  • 60. The application of Geographic Information System (GIS) as a computer assisted spatial information system in Bangladesh started more than a decade ago in early 1990s. Agribusiness using IP Telephony

  • 65.
  • 68. Agribusiness using IP Telephony
