MapR Installation & Setup Administration
Description
Learn MapR system administrator concepts and practices, from planning, installation and
configuration, to load balancing and tuning, to diagnosing and solving problems in your
initial deployment. Learn how to eliminate downtime and performance bottlenecks, setup
your Hadoop cluster with direct access NFS™, enable point-in-time recovery with MapR
snapshots. At the end of this course, you will have the option to take the MapR Certified
Administrator (MCA level 1) exam to verify and certify your expertise.
Course Length
1 day (8 hours) of lecture, instructor demo, and hands-on lab exercises. Please see below
for a detailed description of the schedule.
Prerequisites
The ideal student for this class should understand the following prior to attending:
Fundamental datacenter administration
Logging into a Linux machine
Basic Linux “shell” commands for changing directories, listing directory contents, etc.
Lab Requirements
A physical or virtual cluster with at least 4 nodes that meet the documented
requirements
A workstation for each student, with SSH and NFS client installed
Connectivity from each workstation to the cluster
Objectives
After this class, the student will be able to:
Plan and install a MapR cluster
Perform the initial configuration of a MapR cluster
Manage the cluster with the MapR Control System
Configure users, volumes, and quotas
Configure the physical and volume topologies of a cluster
Access the cluster via NFS and the MapR Client
