Preposition must likely indicate location, but they have more functions, even for native English speakers the use of prepositions are very difficult, but you don’t have to worry, after using this module you will become an expert on prepositions. <br />Referring to the use of the prepositions to demonstrate location, check out these examples:<br />                                       <br />The cat is on the floorThe puppy is in the The cat is beside the <br />trashcan.ball.<br />As you can see in the examples, the words on, in and beside are been use as prepositions of location, they are showing where the cats and the dog are. Prepositions also show location in time.<br />Well, I think you are ready for more information. Am I correct? They are made up of prepositions followed by a noun or a pronoun. Depending on the sentence the prepositions can introduce nouns, noun phrases or a prepositional phrase. It is also very important to know what a preposition does in a sentence, for this I’ll give you some examples:<br />Prepositional phrases function as an adjective or adverb.When the prepositional phrase is working as an adjective the questions that it will answer is “Which one”<br />The car on the garage is beautiful.<br />Which car?  The one on the garage.<br />The delicious candy in the fridge<br />Which candy?  The one in the fridge.<br />And when it is functioning as an adverb it will answer to questions such as How? , Where? Or When?<br />Carlos is hurt from last Monday football game.<br />How did Carlos get hurt? From last Monday football game.<br />After the musical, Julian sang a beautiful song.<br />When did Julian sing? After the musical <br />We played playstation at Alexandra’s house.<br />Where did we play playstation? At Alexandra’s house.<br />1.2 Prepositional Verbs<br />They are made up of a verb + preposition. There are some things you need to know about the prepositional verbs, like for example they can’t be separated and they will always have a direct object, let me show you some examples:<br />Prepositional verbsMeaningExamplesDirect objectbelieve inhave faith ofI believe in Jesus.Jesus.look aftertake care ofHe is looking after the bird.The birdtalk aboutdiscussDid you talk about David Beckham?David Beckhamwait forawaitMaciel is waiting for Richard.Richard<br />Regarding separating the verb from the preposition, as I mention before it is not possible to do it, they are inseparable.  Let me give you some examples:<br />Prepositional verbs are made up of verbs + prepositions. They can’t be separated.Correct:<br />I am looking after you.<br />Incorrect:<br />I am looking you after.<br />Correct: <br />The teacher is talking about prepositions.  <br />Incorrect:<br />The teacher is talking prepositions about.<br />Below I will include a list of some prepositional phrases, they are a lot, so I am only going to add some of them, if you want to know more of them, you can access to this website http://www.bedavaingilizce.com/prepositions/verb_pre.htm.
