1. Configure Mikrotik Metal 2SHPn as access point
The First option in Mikrotik Metal 2SHPn’s interface is the Quick Set.The Quick Set feature
allows you to set up your wireless very quickly. Let’s discuss it features
At the top left corner, you can see a drop down menu, you can select the Mode, whether you
want it for AP, Bridge or Client
Here I am selecting it to AP as I am configuring it as Access Point
Select your Network name in SSID field,
In frequency,Select any of the 13 frequencies.(This is also called Channel,Use the channel which
is not used by others.You can find others channels by clicking on SCAN)
In Band, Set Band to 2Ghz B/G/N.
B mode gives you 11 Mbps throughput.
G mode gives you 54 Mbps throughput.
and N mode gives you 150 Mbps throughput.(N mode will only work if you have channel width
40 Mhz)
Set channel width to 20 Mhz if you want to connect 20Ghz enabled devices like Tl-Wa 500g,But
40Ghz is recomended.(But N mode will not work)
Set channel width to 40 Mhz if you want more throughput.
Select your Country.
Select Configuration mode to bridge
Set your IP address to static so that your can configure it through web interface.
Enter Ip address, Gateway and DNS according to your network scenario.
Router Identity is the name of your Device,whenever you will discover it in DHCP Pool you will
see its Identity name.
You can also change it Password from Quick setup.
These are the Settings for Mikrotik Metal 2SHPn’s wireless.The other settings are same as in
Mikrotik Groove a2hn.

2. Security settings for Mikrotik Metal 2SHPn
Goto Wireless,Click on security profile,Enter a profile name like WPA-2PSK security.
In mode,select Dynamic Keys
I would like to recommend WPA2 PSK security as it is very tight security.
Enter you security keys in WPA2 pre shared key

3. Enabling internet sharing in Mikrotik Metal 2SHPn
Now its time to enable internet sharing in Mikrotik Metal 2SHPn,
First create a bridge which will connect the wlan and ether 1 with one another.
Click on Bridge,and click on + Sign,Click OK
Now click on ports and click on + Sign Select interface to Ether1 and bridge to Bridge1.
Again click on ports and click on + Sign Select interface to wlan1 and bridge to Bridge1.

4. Now click on IP > addresses and give an IP address to your LAN port.
Click on red + sign and enter IP Address 192.168.1.6/24 select interface to ether1
Now add a default gateway
Goto IP> Routes Click on red + sign and enter 192.168.1.1 in gateway field.

5. Now set DNS
Click on IP> DNS and click on DNS settings
Enter 8.8.8.8 as primary DNS
8.8.4.4 as Secondary DNS
Click apply and ok
Now its time to test your internet connectivity by connecting through a wireless device.
Mikrotik Metal 2shpn Trouble Shooting
Getting too high ping delay or disconnected due to extensive data loss
Metal 2shpn has a too much high output power which creates some problems like high ping
delay or disconnection.You must try lowering the output power,it creates this problem only to
the nearer.Keep in mind, too much high power and too much signals will result in worse
performance

cannot say that it is the best alterative for routerboard,it is a wireless routerboard and
recommendations are to use it for wireless only not to configure PPPoE in it

bhai jan problem ye hay k main ne UBNT Bullet M2 HP (Station 1) k sath 24db ka grid antenna
lagay hay aur 3.4Km k distance par repeater (Station 2) lagaye hay but connectivity 25db se
zayada nai ho rahi hay……. antenna height 50ft
mere station 1 k 50ft k radius main wairid, telenor aur Ufone k towers hain in k darmian main
10ft ka distance hay jis main se station 2 ki alignment hoti hay…….. aur agar in towers se door ja
kar setting karte hain to signal 60db tak jata hay..
kia towers 2.4g k signals ko daba daite hain ya kuch aur prob hay…….?
main 1st time city se gaon main internet chlane ki koshish kar raha hun.
please help me…….!

Yes mobile towers aap ki frequency ko disturb kar skty hn…better hy k aap is ko door ly jao and
allignment thek sy karo…because grid antenna mn allignment ka bht dhiyan rkhna partra hy….

you must use https: instead of http: in your web site for youtube links.
for home use “use 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4 in your dns and open youtube with https:” it will work fine
even on ptcl.

hai k 4mb packge k sath 2 signal pe 5,10 kb speed deta hai aur baz aoqat to google hi open ni
hota jab k nazdeek full signal pe 600 kb downloading speed deta hai.. Help Me plz

Dear as i consider abt Rocket M2 has a limited radio settings maximum is automatic but
Mikrotik radio is giving us a lot and wast options to configure our AP radio on our desire may be
those people who are geting problm with it they still not have configure it as much it can like if
we ll use only 23 dbm and and make limited MBPS in it and chose a good antenna may be its
work more then batter to any other. its up to which i believe the best radio settings which need
to a person who is going to use it. I also believe tht its really difficult to make understand the
settings of its radio but need a lot time for experience for good result. In pakistan people use to
in Mimo system things like Rocket M2 but they even don’t have client side mimo CPE so I really
object tht all type of things. Rocket M2 achully is not for Tp-link or Alfa usb its antenna and
rocket M2 has designed For Air Max system and they must be work Excellently on there
products like Loco Station and Nano Stations.
So we don’t need to waste more time on it we should Use Mikrotik Radio configuration for
those products which we use for our client and we need to understand first of all which type of
settings will work on our client end.
Mikrotik is using Atheros chipset and Mikrotik is giving us importunity to full configuration
options and there a lot a lot big and small options but we don’t know how to use for work it
dosen’t meand the Metal or Gruve are not working good achully we don’t have knowladage to
use.

but I have need 10 lan port for load balancing purpose may I make vlan for 10 wan load
balancing is may successful r not if yes so how many device are required

yes you can connect, goto bullet settings and use it as AP-WDS or AP-REPEATER and change the
channel width to 20mhz

I’m going to be upgrading my whole network with a RB1100Hx2 for Whole House DVR Live TV
and my current Network Wireless setup (D-link DGL-4500) does not cut it , have many dead
spots on second floor using a Directional 10dbi flat panel antenna (RP-N Female) connection
now.
Looking at buying a Metal2SHPn for indoor use located in the center of the (house) basement
ceiling.
Need to know the best Antenna that would go from the Basement to the second floor, 1st &

27. 2nd floors = 2860 sq feet.
Was looking at this antenna.. MP ANTENNA 2.4 GHz High Gain Omni Multi-Polarized Wifi
Antenna. Designed uses -> Building Penetration and High
Obstruction Deployments.
(is this over kill and possible issue with over powering issues on first floor)
please give me a alternative if this is a bad fit for my needs.
P.S. I have bookmarked this Metal setup guide you made for when I get my Metal… you make it
look easy.!!

main ny metal purchas ki or apki post k mutabik configuration karny ki koshish ki liken meri
metal main na quick setup show kerta hy or na wlan active hota.

I am facing disconnect issue in our Mikrotik AP. I am using Mikrotik RB 433AH and Alfa Mini PCI
card in our access point.
Please provide me the best solutions about this type problem and also provide me the RTO and
high latency issue in Mikrotik AP.

adeelbhai mujhe ye puchna tha main wa5210g router mikrotik pe use karna chahta hon maine
aap ka mikrotik ka quick setup kiya hai us ke sath jub router ki ap wali ap ki di hiu saating kar ke
chalata hon to signals to aate hain aur router ke thro mikrotik ke server main bhi enter ho jate
hain lekin net nahi chalta bhut kishish ki par kuch samjh nahi aaya apl help me
