Financial Aid for Implementing Investment projects in the
Development and Provision of Innovative Products and
Value-Added Services


 The action supports investment projects related to the design,
     development and commercialization of innovative products and
     value-added services based on Information and Communications
     Technologies (ICT).
 Key innovative parameter:

      the final amount of aid will be linked to countable targets, such
        as employment increase and export activity

     Current Status: Submission Period is closing on15/03/2013
     Who Benefits: All Business Sectors
     Total Budget: €120.000.000 public expenditure
     So far > 450 electronically submitted proposals

     The investments to be financed are divided into 2 categories,
     according to their estimated budget:
     •Class I: from €300,000 to €5,000,000
     •Class ΙΙ: from €5,000,000 to €20,000,000

     Implementation in 2 discrete phases
     Phase Α: Research, Design and Development of the new
     products or services (R&D stage)
     Phase Β: Commercialization of the new products or services

     Maximum time of implementation is 24 months

Financial Aid for the Implementation of Digital Investment Projects in the
Retail Sector

 The action aims to assist retail businesses to:

        Improve internal management and achieve cost cutting
        Increase their sales
        Gain access to new target markets by using technologies such as e-
         shops, mobile marketing, etc.



•Current Status: Evaluation of completed investment plans
•Total Budget: €98.776.783
•4.450 submitted applications
•2.529 approved investments plans
•224 completed projects (€5,6m)

Investments in digital broadband content

The action assists the publishing sector (media, publishers etc) to:


      create dynamic and enriched broadband content, commercially
        exploitable.
      provide digital content through multiple technological channels
        (digital book readers, tablet PC, mobile phone devices).


•Current Status: evaluation of completed projects
•Available Public expenditure: €16.643.081,45
•315 submitted applications
•238 approved investments plans
•113 completed projects (€ 6,5 m)

Digital investments in the Greek tourism sector
The action assists the tourism sector (hotels, lodges) to:

      Develop multi-lingual websites with e-booking systems and secure
       transaction platforms
      Improve back-office and front-office systems that enhance
       operational efficiency (CRM, hotel management software etc.)
      Implement digital marketing campaigns (SEO, social media, etc)


•Current status: evaluation of completed investment plans
•Available Public expenditure: €34.430.135,95
•2.859 submitted applications
•1.860 approved investments plans
•1.732 completed projects (€ 23,2m)
16       Digi-mobile

Digital investments for the development and use of innovative
applications on “smart” mobile devices and tablet-PCs

The action aims at supporting small and very small Greek businesses to
gain access to new target markets, by offering value - added services
through smartphones and tablet-PCs.
Support is granted for developing native mobile apps, web mobile apps
and web mobile portals.


•Current Status: evaluation of submitted proposals
•Available Public expenditure: €30.150.000,00
•Total budget per SME: €1.400,00 - €7.000,00
•7.919 submitted applications
17       E-security

Support for businesses in order to implement e-security investments

The action assists SME’s to implement investments that provide them the
means to cope with the risks of fraud
The beneficiary firms are able to ensure:


        The privacy and confidentiality of corporate information
        Data and systems integrity and availability

•Current Status: evaluation of completed investment plans
•Available Public expenditure: €10.500.000
•2.285 submitted applications
•701 approved investment plans
•648 completed projects (€ 9,0 m)
18 Impact to society and businesses

 Digital State Aid actions to Greek enterprises are expected to:

 Create new workplaces
 Increase the need for ICT personnel
 Reduce the digital divide between rural & urban areas
 Introduce innovative services
 Increase sales & market share
 Enter the global market
 Reduce their OPEX
 Contribution to GDP growth

  • 10. 10 ICT 4 growth Financial Aid for Implementing Investment projects in the Development and Provision of Innovative Products and Value-Added Services  The action supports investment projects related to the design, development and commercialization of innovative products and value-added services based on Information and Communications Technologies (ICT).  Key innovative parameter:  the final amount of aid will be linked to countable targets, such as employment increase and export activity
  • 11. 11 ICT 4 growth Current Status: Submission Period is closing on15/03/2013 Who Benefits: All Business Sectors Total Budget: €120.000.000 public expenditure So far > 450 electronically submitted proposals The investments to be financed are divided into 2 categories, according to their estimated budget: •Class I: from €300,000 to €5,000,000 •Class ΙΙ: from €5,000,000 to €20,000,000 Implementation in 2 discrete phases Phase Α: Research, Design and Development of the new products or services (R&D stage) Phase Β: Commercialization of the new products or services Maximum time of implementation is 24 months

  • 13. 13 Digi-retail Financial Aid for the Implementation of Digital Investment Projects in the Retail Sector  The action aims to assist retail businesses to:  Improve internal management and achieve cost cutting  Increase their sales  Gain access to new target markets by using technologies such as e- shops, mobile marketing, etc. •Current Status: Evaluation of completed investment plans •Total Budget: €98.776.783 •4.450 submitted applications •2.529 approved investments plans •224 completed projects (€5,6m)
  • 14. 14 Digi-content Investments in digital broadband content The action assists the publishing sector (media, publishers etc) to:  create dynamic and enriched broadband content, commercially exploitable.  provide digital content through multiple technological channels (digital book readers, tablet PC, mobile phone devices). •Current Status: evaluation of completed projects •Available Public expenditure: €16.643.081,45 •315 submitted applications •238 approved investments plans •113 completed projects (€ 6,5 m)
  • 15. 15 Digi-lodge Digital investments in the Greek tourism sector The action assists the tourism sector (hotels, lodges) to:  Develop multi-lingual websites with e-booking systems and secure transaction platforms  Improve back-office and front-office systems that enhance operational efficiency (CRM, hotel management software etc.)  Implement digital marketing campaigns (SEO, social media, etc) •Current status: evaluation of completed investment plans •Available Public expenditure: €34.430.135,95 •2.859 submitted applications •1.860 approved investments plans •1.732 completed projects (€ 23,2m)
  • 16. 16 Digi-mobile Digital investments for the development and use of innovative applications on “smart” mobile devices and tablet-PCs The action aims at supporting small and very small Greek businesses to gain access to new target markets, by offering value - added services through smartphones and tablet-PCs. Support is granted for developing native mobile apps, web mobile apps and web mobile portals. •Current Status: evaluation of submitted proposals •Available Public expenditure: €30.150.000,00 •Total budget per SME: €1.400,00 - €7.000,00 •7.919 submitted applications
  • 17. 17 E-security Support for businesses in order to implement e-security investments The action assists SME’s to implement investments that provide them the means to cope with the risks of fraud The beneficiary firms are able to ensure:  The privacy and confidentiality of corporate information  Data and systems integrity and availability •Current Status: evaluation of completed investment plans •Available Public expenditure: €10.500.000 •2.285 submitted applications •701 approved investment plans •648 completed projects (€ 9,0 m)

  6. Information Society acts an intermediate body between the Managing Authority for Digital Convergence and enterprises (SMEs), the beneficiaries of the state aid actions. It implements 6 state aid actions of total budget for public expenditure more than 310 million euros, part of the structural funds under the National Strategic Reference Framework 2007-2013.
  7. The most recent state aid initiative Information Society SA implements is ICT4GROWTH. The action supports financially enterprises to implement investment projects related to the design, development and commercialization of innovative products and value-added services which are based on Information and Communications Technologies (ICT). One important and innovative parameter for the enterprises that participate in ICT4GROWTH is that the final amount of state aid is linked to countable targets, such as employment increase and export activity

The implementation of the projects is divided in 2 discrete phases Phase Α includes the research plan, the design and the development of the new products or services (R&amp;D stage) While Phase Β the commercialization of the new products or services The maximum time of implementation is 24 months

The action aims to provide retail businesses with the ability to adopt ICT within the retail processes and enhance digitally their outward orientation to markets inside and outside Greece The beneficiary firms will be able to: Improve internal management and achieve cost cutting, by using automated retail technologies (warehouse, business intelligence, etc.) Increase their sales by approaching their customers in an integrated and personalized way eg. loyalty schemes G ain access to new target markets by using technologies such as e-shops, mobile marketing, etc. Digi-retail has a total budget : 98 million € The submission period was from 14/1/2011 to 21/3/2011 The budget of the investment plans ranges from 5.000 € - 500.000 € The duration of the projects is up to 18 months So far 4.450 applications have been submitted electronically while 2.529 have been approved. Until today 224 enterprises have completed theirs investments projects of total budget €5,6m euro
  10. The action aims at enhancing the creation of a dynamic and enriched broadband content which is commercially exploitable. It targets the publishing sector (publication of books, scientific and University literature, publishers, media publishing), as well as information content providers. Its goal is to enrich the Greek online content, by enhancing at the same time its digital availability through multiple technological channels (digital book readers, tablet PC, mobile phone devices). The submission period was from 6/12/2010 – 28/1/2011 The budget of the investment plans ranges from €10.000 - €400.000 (according to company size) The duration of the projects is up to 18 months The total public expenditure of the digi-content initiative is 1 6 million € So far 315 applications have been submitted electronically while investments plans 238 have been approved. Currently113 completed projects of total budget € 6,5 m. Are being evaluated and certified

The digi-lodge state aid actions assists the tourism sector (hotels, lodges, etc.) to: Develop multi-lingual websites that provide e-booking systems with secure transaction platforms Improve back-office and front-office systems that enhance the hotel’s efficiency (CRM, Hotel Management software etc.) Provide customers with in-house wireless networking facilities Run digital marketing and promotion campaigns using strategically the social media and others services such as Search Engine Optimisation The digi-lodge initiative was among the 24 finalists of the RegioStars Awards 2012. It was distinguished as a good practice, an original and innovative project for regional development. The submission period was from 15/9/2009 to 28/2/2011 The budget of the investment plans ranges from €7.000 - €40.000 The total public expenditure of the actions amounts to €34 million During the submission period 2.859 applications were submitted electronically. 1.860 investments plans of € 28,9mil were approved. So far 1.732 hotels and lodges completed the investment plans of total budget € 23.2mil. Currently the completed projects are being evaluated and certified.

The action aims at supporting small and very small Greek businesses to exploit their international potential and gain access to new target markets, by offering added-value services through smartphones and tablet-PCs. Support is granted for developing: Native mobile apps, web mobile apps and web mobile portals All B2C, B2B or B2E forms are eligible The submission period started at 30/1/2012 and is up to 9/11/2011 The public expenditure of the action is €30 million The budget of the investment plans ranges from €1.400,00 - €7.000,00 So far 7.919 applications have been submitted.

The action provides fund grants to SME’s in order to implement investments that will provide them the means to cope with the risks of fraud and problems arising from the use of digital company data. The beneficiary firms will be able to ensure: The privacy and confidentiality of corporate information Data and systems integrity Data and systems availability The submission period was from 7/5/2009 to 30/5/2012 The budget of the investment plans ranges from 5.000,00 € to 70.000,00€ E-security has a total budget (public expenditure) of € 10.5 mil The duration of the projects is up to 6 months 2.285 applications were submitted and 701 investment plans were finally approved. So far 648 enterprises completed their investments of total budget € 9 mil.
