Nel 1909 Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, nel manifesto del Futurismo pubblicato su Le Figarò,
scriveva: “Noi vogliamo inneggiare all’uomo
Marinetti.
Così, il negozio su via Tomacelli è all’insegna
passante distratto: l’attenzione viene catturata
dalla predominanza del rosso e dal ricorrere
del cavallino rampante simbolo della casa auomobilistica.

In 1909 Filippo Tommaso Marinetti wrote, in
the Futurist manifesto published in Le Figarò,
“We want to raise a hymn to the man holding
the wheel, whose ideal rod traverses the Earth,
launched in a race, it too, over the circuit of its
orbit”.
Thirty-eight years later, in 1947, Ferrari won its
first Grand Prix at the Baths of Caracalla, with
the 125S model driven by Flavio Cortese.
Almost a century after Marinetti’s hymn to the
automobile, Ferrari has chosen Rome, the city
of the first in a long series of triumphs, as the
site of its third official sales point, after the one
in Maranello and Ferrari shop at the Bologna
Airport. And Massimo Iosa Ghini has drawn
inspiration, for creating a place that would incarnate the spirit of the car manufacturer and
its dual identity in the racing world and the
luxury world, from the sweeping lines derived
from the aerodynamic profiles of the cars and
from a concept of speed that descends from
Marinetti’s Futurist aesthetics.
Accordingly, the shop on Via Tomacelli has
been designed under the sign of dynamism
and motion. The great show-window, whose
continuity is discreetly interrupted only by
the bearing columns, rendered as neutral as
possible by their silver color, is conceived as
a great screen of communication, providing a
view of the interior. Immediately recognizable,
even to a distracted passerby, is the trademark.
Attention is captured by the predominance of
the color red and by the recurrent image of
the rearing horse, symbol of the famous car
manufacturer.

3. Progetti Ferrari Store
giocattoli, block notes, modelli in scala e ogni
morbidi, pelli e laccature spazzolate.

Upon entering, visitors find themselves in
the Ferrari “universe”, a world made up of
automobiles, but alone. The sales point offers
over three thousand articles including wearing
apparel, leather goods, toys, block notes, scale
models and gadgets of every kind. The distribution of spaces reiterates that of the shop in
Maranello, it too designed by Iosa Ghini. On the
ground floor are luxury articles and objects for
racing-car fans. The lower level is dedicated
to children, with a play area, and on the first
floor are books, models and original elements
of Granturism and Formula1 cars. A distinction
is made between two targets in differentiating
between a fans area, dedicated to the world of
car-racing buffs, and a luxury-memorabilia
area, designed to appeal to the more restricted
market of owners. For these two types of
customers, there are two different interior
decoration systems. In the fans zone, the soft
forms and curves of furnishings, counters and
display cases have been realized with a system
of highly flexible aluminum staves, while in
the luxury zone, a more sophisticated environment has been created and, for the treatment
of show-windows and display furnishings, soft
materials have been used, with an abundance
of leather and brushed lacquer finish.
Consistent with the inspiration from Futurism,
the sales point makes great use of highly innovative audiovisual technologies to reproduce
the most exciting moments in the history of
the company and to recreate the “natural”
background of these events, the car-racing
track. The visual and sound effects that lead
visitors into a “race-track” atmosphere consist
of a system of plasma screens, among them
the mega-screen Barco with LEDs, newly
introduced into Italy, which is a meter high
and extends for a length of 5 meters, and an

MBVA (Midi Based Video Automation).
e sottolineano, semmai fosse necessario, chi
sia la vera protagonista dell’avventura Ferrari:
l’automobile.
Bologna e Milano Malpensa.

All of the furnishings in the store have rounded
edges and soft curves, suggesting the contours
of the race circuits and accentuating the fluidity of the interior spaces. Continuity between
the three levels is emphasized by a completely
transparent display balustrade.
As complement to these elements of interior
design are parts and components of the vehicles and the world’s champion one-seat F2003GA, which are inserted like works of art and
which serve to emphasize, as if it were necessary, the true hero of the Ferrari adventure: the
automobile.
At the moment the official Ferrari sales points
are four: the first one was opened in Maranello, the Store in Rome and the two Shops at the
Bologna and Milano Malpensa airports. The
Ferrari Store formula is about to go abroad,
not only to offer its products but also to represent a reference point for all those who love
the world, quintessentially Italian, of the Testarossa. The next shops to be opened will be
the Ferrari Stores in Las Vegas and Shanghai.
