Joelle O’Reilly-Hyland is co-chair of Educate Girls Globally. The organization helps to improve the lives of girls and women in Africa and India by helping to enroll, retain and empower female students through community mobilization. 2. Raises Money for African Children
Joelle O’Reilly-Hyland supports a number of non-profit
organizations, but one of her dearest is Ubuntu Africa.
Joelle O’Reilly-Hyland raises money for the
impoverished HIV-positive children in Khayelitsha,
South Africa. She and her husband Paul O’ReillyHyland have been involved with the charity since it was
founded 7 years ago. Last year they competed in the
Westchester Triathlon to raise money and awareness,
and this year they multiplied that effort by starting a
team. Last year Joelle O’Reilly-Hyland and Paul
O’Reilly-Hyland competed to raise $10,000 for Ubuntu
Africa and believe this year with 20 entrants that joined
to support them will far surpass that. Joelle and Paul
O’Reilly-Hyland participated in the Olympic length
Westchester Triathlon September 29, 2013 which
includes 1.1 mile swimming, 25.2 biking, and 10k
running. This has been completed and so far they have
raised 70k, exceeding their goals.
3. Educating Women Seen as Tool for Social Change
Joelle O’Reilly-Hyland is proud to call herself an activist. She supports
organizations designed to promote the equality of women. Internationally, Joelle
O’Reilly-Hyland supports organizations that educate women and girls. She views
education as the most powerful agent of social change. Joelle O’Reilly-Hyland
supports the organization Educate Girls Globally that provides opportunities for

4. Raises Money for HIV Charity
Joelle O’Reilly-Hyland supports an organization
called Ubuntu Africa. The organization cares for
children with HIV in the South African community
of Khayelitsha. Joelle O’Reilly-Hyland raises
money for this charity through participation in the
Westchester Triathlon. Joelle O’Reilly-Hyland has
completed a .9 mile swim, 25 mile bike ride, and
6.2 mile run to raise money for Ubuntu Africa in
2012. Joelle O’Reilly-Hyland also just participated
and competed in the Westchester Triathlon again
September 29, 2013 raising additional funding for
Ubuntu Africa along with an entire team she
founded.
