Introduction
•Through salvation we were justified by faith through
the blood of Jesus.
•Salvation brought renewness of the Spirit man but not
without attributes of the flesh
•As believers, we must be sanctified and consecrated
unto the Lord to be delivered from the flesh
– God's Holiness – Ps 22:2, 145:17, Lev 19:2
– We must be holy to remain in a relationship with God – Is
6:3, Rev 4:8

Sanctification
• Sanctification (Holiness) is the process of being made
holy unto God
• We should be sanctified daily
• Holiness is not just rules and regulations
– Holiness is a state of the heart
– It is pure – Jer 17:9
• The opposite of sanctification is unholiness
• Sanctification is achieved with study of the Word and
deep fellowship with God

Why must we be sanctified?
•Because God commands it

•To be able to enjoy fellowship with God

Consecration
•Consecration is the act of being separated and reserved for the
Lord.
•In the Old Testament the priests and vessels had to be
consecrated for service in the temple – Zech 14:20-21
•Because we’ve been saved, our bodies are the temple of the
Lord – 1Cor 3:16-17, 6:19, 2Cor 6:16 and for this reason:
– We cannot be unequally yoked – 2Cor 6:14
– Use our bodies as our own, but to glorify God – 1Cor 6:20
– Our speech must be holy – Eph 4:29
– Our thoughts must be holy
– Our actions must be holy
– We must always be constantly aware of God's presence around us.

• No longer counts life as important
• Gives of himself and substance to God
• Guards the heart
