Its objectives are: a)   To promote the development of sustainable audiovisual and interactive media productions, especially fostering new generations of producers. b)   To promote young people’s active citizenship, especially through Leadership and Character Education Programs. c)    To strength NGO capabilities and effectiveness, especially those focused in youth formation and solidarity. InterMedia Consulting   is member of the World Family Map Project Network (leaded by University of Virginia, U.S.) and the International Cooperation Network (leaded by Cooperación Internacional ONG, Spain). IM provides assistance (networking) to European Alliance of Listeners' and Viewers' Associations ( www.euralva.org ) and Red Papaz ( www.redpapaz.org ) in Colombia . The Safe Social Media project promotes an innovative –  evidence based strategy to protect and empower European Children  in social media. First step : An overview of the global situation of the Social Media among teenagers, families and schools. Second step : In order to defend the right, we carried out a research about the abuse of Social Media.   Some problems addressed: 1- absence of  assessment / indicators  in awareness strategies 2- social actors  worked separately : teachers + students + parents / carers  3.- Poor awareness, among children and teenagers on how to use new media avoiding the risks  4- poor knowledge among  educators and parents 5-  a model  of strategy and contents for EDUCATIONAL /RIGHTS PROMOTION campaign Stop violence in social media – Daphne III Project SAFE SOCIAL MEDIA Vienna April 14-15th, 2011 Project funded by the European Union
Third step:  In order to solve some of these problems we have created Safe Social Media an educational project “to navigate without drowning” for Schools with social actors together: parents, educators and students.  Overall goal: Reduce exposure to violence for children  and adolescents through Social Media. Direct beneficiaries of Safe Social Media Project :  Teenagers  (age: 10-16)  50 schools  (25 schools in Spain and 25 schools Italy) About  10,000 adolescents  per country One school as REGIONAL AWARENESS NODE Indirect beneficiaries :  Parents and teachers. IM provides assistance (networking) to European Alliance of Listeners' and Viewers' Associations ( www.euralva.org ) and Red Papaz ( www.redpapaz.org ) in Colombia .   • 5. The Safe Social Media project promotes an innovative – evidence based strategy to protect and empower European Children in social media. First step : An overview of the global situation of the Social Media among teenagers, families and schools.   • 7. Second step : In order to defend the right, we carried out a research about the abuse of Social Media. Some problems addressed: 1- absence of assessment / indicators in awareness strategies 2- social actors worked separately : teachers + students + parents / carers 3.- Poor awareness, among children and teenagers on how to use new media avoiding the risks 4- poor knowledge among educators and parents 5- a model of strategy and contents for EDUCATIONAL /RIGHTS PROMOTION campaign Stop violence in social media – Daphne III Project SAFE SOCIAL MEDIA Vienna April 14-15th, 2011 Project funded by the European Union

Third step: In order to solve some of these problems we have created Safe Social Media an educational project “to navigate without drowning” for Schools with social actors together: parents, educators and students.
