•  Tell a story and follow a path/have a message
•  Make it beautiful and designed to be shared
•  Avoid special effects (3D is a no no!)
•  Use colour, size, and position to help the reader

  • 8. Some things to consider •  90% of information transmitted to the brain is visual •  We process images 60,000x faster than text •  Irresistible images? Pointing arrows and directed gazes •  Our brains are wired to remember images better than names

  • 15. WHAT DO THE PROS DO WELL? •  Understand their “end goal” •  Tell a story and follow a path/have a message •  Make it beautiful and designed to be shared •  Avoid special effects (3D is a no no!) •  Use colour, size, and position to help the reader see what is important

Here’s what... •  PICK THE RIGHT DATA •  Not all data can be visualized well •  PICK THE RIGHT VISUALIZATION •  Try different types and see what works best •  KEEP IT SIMPLE •  The more details you put in there, the harder it is to digest – simplicity is key! •  MATCH THE FORM TO THE CHANNEL •  Make sure your visuals are easily shareable on the main media channels you broadcast on

Remember to keep it simple and fact-based. Need help? Ask your table-mates or HMC staffers! 3.  Pick your visualization method. Which method fits your data point the best? 4.  Get going and embrace spontaneity! Use the materials at your table to cut, glue, and draw your data. There are no mistakes!
