I believe interaction design is
about defining dynamic and interactive
qualities of products and services,
WHILE SEEKING to understand how
people experience them.

SMART FRIDGE

AT WHIRLPOOL LATIN AMERICA
2012
BRIEFING
new fridge with smart functions on a
touchscreen display.
CHALLENGE
it was not possible to allow internet
connection due to technical restrictions.
SOLUTION
export data from fridge UI using customized
QR code reader aplication that allows users to
share dynamic shopping lists.
some built in applications like shopping
list, food expiration reminder, notes,
and digital “magnets” (among others)
users can download a shopping list to
smartphone using a customized QR
code scanner app.
Once on the app, it becomes a dynamic
shopping list that can be shared and all
participants get notifications of what
have been bought and by whom.

MEDIATION OF DAILY ACTIVITIES BY MOBILE
DEVICES: A TRANSITIONARY MOMENT
academic dissertation / Graduate degree
2012
I RESEARCHED HOW CONNECTED
MOBILE DEVICES HAVE BEEN
CHANGING THE WAY PEOPLE
INTERACT WITH ORDINARY OBJECTS
We are in a transitionary moment when mobile
devices play a fundamental role on the mediation
of digital content, but demand a lot of active
attention from users since they are visually based
interfaces. Products must explore the entire
body as ways to interact, also improving to autoidentify the context of use in order to demand
less-immersive interactions.

GOAL
Get relevant comments about products
from people you know or who share
common interests with you.
CHALLENGES
iPhone had just been released and social networks
were on its early years. Things like contextual
based content were not so easily accessible yet.
with Pamela Tailor
oriented by Andy Cargile + Roberto Verschleisser
SOLUTION
PEOPLE CAN GET UNBIASED
REVIEWS PRIORITIZED BY HOW
CLOSE THEY ARE AND HOW MANY
COMMOM INTERESTS THEY SHARE
WITH COMMENTS AUTHORS. THIS
IS ACHIEVED BY CROSSING USER
PROFILES ON SOCIAL NETWORKS.

OPINIONS ARE IDENTIFIED BY PEOPLE
WHO OWN THE PRODUCT THEY EVALUATE

at whirlpool latin

2010-2012
I have worked on a wide range of
home appliances user interfaces.
Even the apparently most simple
projects demand a strategic
work, close to marketing,
to define which features to
implement and how deliver a
great user experience.

academic group project
* presented at Microsoft Research Design 05
* presented at Yahoo! Design Expo 2006
.
It is a plugin to presentation software (like Power Point and
PDF) that aims to help presenters organize their speeches
and take control of time when speaking in public.
Presentation runs directly from device to projector allowing.
User can visualize information in a graphic way and can
control and interact with presentation.
user research and concepts

with Motorola, at ESDI
2005
internship at ESDI + Motorola Lab
During 6 months students and designers from
Motorola worked together in a Design user
research targeted to brazilian low-tier consumers.

COMPILING INFORMATION CAN TAKE
SEVERAL FORMS: STORYBOARDS,
DIAGRAMS AND ILLUSTRATIONS, USE
CASES, DESIGN GUIDELINES, ETC.
Sometimes people can
focus too much on their
specialties, so it is very
important to offer a
broader vision.
14. JORGE GOMES INTERACTION DESIGNER
I MEET REAL USERS
AND SEEK TO GET
INSIGHTS USING
SEVERAL DESIGN
RESEARCH TOOLS
Cultural probes,
visits at users homes,
observation of people on
the places they go, role
playing, paper prototyping
and participate of usability
tests are some examples.

THEN I WORK ON PROPOSALS AND
TEST THEM. IT IS AN ITERATIVE AND
COLLABORATIVE PROCESS.
