Proverbs 18:22 Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good
thing, and obtaineth favor of the LORD.
That’s God’s Truth.
A good marriage doesn’t just happen.
Both the husband and wife have to give 100% to
the relationship if it works.
4. 4

Marriage, the union of one man and one woman, is
a personal, but not private, relationship with great
public significance. Marriage is good for the
couple; it is also provides the optimal conditions
for bearing and raising children. Marriage makes
an essential contribution to the common good.
In other words, marriage is good for the
individuals, the family, and the culture.
5. 5
Marriage and Health
• On average, husbands and wives are healthier,
happier and enjoy longer lives than those who are
not married.
• Men appear to reap the most physical health
benefits from marriage and suffer the greatest
health consequences if they divorce.
• Married mothers have lower rates of depression
than single or cohabiting mothers, probably
because they are more likely to receive practical
and emotional support from their child’s father and
his family.
6. 6
Marriage and Wealth
• Married couples build more wealth on average
than singles or cohabiting couples.
• Married men earn more money than do single
men with similar education and job histories.
• Married women are economically better off than
divorced, cohabiting, or never-married women.
7. 7
Children raised by their own married mother and
father are:
• Less likely to be poor or to experience persistent
economic insecurity
• More likely to stay in school, have fewer
behavioral and attendance problems, and earn four-
year college degrees
• Less vulnerable to serious emotional illness,
depression and suicide
• More likely to have positive attitudes towards
marriage and greater success in forming lasting
marriages
8. 8
God created marriage: one man and one
woman created for one another and
choosing to love one another forever.
God tells us in His Word how to have a good
and successful marriage.
9. 9
Ephesians 5 25 Husbands, love your wives, even as
Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for
it;
Ephesians 5 28 So ought men to love their wives as
their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth
himself. 29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh;
but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord
the church:
So men are taught to love, nourish (care for),
and cherish (value highly) our wives,
just as Jesus does the church.
10. 10
Colossians 3 19 Husbands, love your wives, and be
not bitter against them.
1 Peter 3 7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them
according to knowledge (thoughtfully and considerately),
giving honor unto the wife, as unto the weaker
vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of
life; that your prayers be not hindered.
11. 11
Ephesians 5 22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your
own husbands, as unto the Lord. 23 For the husband
is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of
the church: and He is the Savior of the body.
24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let
the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
As the husband follows Christ, the wife should
follow the leadership of her godly husband.
Head – the part most readily taken hold of.
Responsibility.
12. 12
This is God’s Plan for a wonderful
and lasting marriage.
A man and a woman who each loves the other
without selfishness or self-centeredness.
A godly husband who lives his life following Jesus.
A godly wife who willingly follows
the leadership of her husband.
Maturity
There’s too many adults wanting to live like teenagers;
that destroys marriages.
