2. 10 And the children of Israel encamped in Gilgal, and kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the month at even in the plains of Jericho. What is Joshua doing ? First they circumcise all the men. Now they have church .
3. Luke 16 10 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. If we don't do the "little things" we know to do, we will never have opportunity to do more. If we continue to commit those "Little no harm sins" or continue to ignore those " little suggestions " we think God gives -- We're unfaithful in all.
4. Proverbs 30 5 Every Word of God is pure: He is a shield unto them that put their trust in Him. Luke 4 4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word of God. We can't twist the Bible to fit our lifestyle. We must fit into the mold of God's Holy Word.
5. 11 And they did eat of the old corn of the land on the morrow after the Passover, unleavened cakes, and parched corn in the selfsame day. In the wilderness, God provided food ; They could not get it for themselves. They were doing what God had ordained they do. God supplied their need.
6. Now they are in the Promised Land. Plenty of food is available.
7. Joshua 24 11 And ye went over Jordan, and came unto Jericho: and the men of Jericho fought against you, the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Girgashites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; and I delivered them into your hand . 12 And I sent the hornet before you, which drave them out from before you, even the two kings of the Amorites; but not with thy sword, nor with thy bow.
8. 13 And I have given you a land for which ye did not labor, and cities which ye built not , and ye dwell in them; of the vineyards and olive-yards which ye planted not do ye eat. 14 Now therefore fear the Lord, and serve HIM in sincerity and in truth : and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the Lord.
9. 12 And the manna ceased on the morrow after they had eaten of the old corn of the land; neither had the children of Israel manna any more; but they did eat of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year. They had new food and plenty of it. God had given them the land and all it contained. "They did eat the fruit of the land of Canaan that year."
10. Let's enjoy the blessings that God has prepared for us as we live for Him. John 10 10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life , and that they might have it more abundantly . Not just surviving; not just existing . Not just making it. Living large , with joy and satisfaction.
11. 13 And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, … He was looking it over, probably wondering how they would take such a mighty walled city with swords and bows and arrows. Joshua had never attacked a city that was prepared for a long siege.
12. Joshua challenged this stranger. Are you for us or against us? 13 And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?
13. 14 And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the Lord am I now come.
14. 14b And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto HIM, What saith my Lord unto His servant? The Lord Himself had come with all His host to lead the battle. Joshua recognized the Lord as Lord, fell on his face and worshipped Him.
15. "What saith my Lord unto His servant?" "If You are going to lead us in battle, just tell me what to do." That must be our mindset.
16. "Lord, I know that You are my life." "You have promised never to leave me." "I will obey Your every Word." "I will do what You tell me to do." "I will reject what You tell me to reject."
17. 15 And the captain of the Lord's host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so. We would expect something bigger; more spectacular. God just wants our love and respect demonstrated through simple, willing obedience. He will do all the great and mighty deeds. "Take off your shoes."
