5. How to play a strategic role in your
organisation
Pre Conference Workshop A
Tuesday 30th September, 5:30pm – 8:30pm
To get ahead in today’s competitive world, organisations need to have a
sound strategy to achieve their goals. Often EAs and PAs get left behind in
this process and yet they are integral to its success.
This workshop will help you explore your organisation’s strategy, how you
fit in and how you can operate more strategically in your role and with key
stakeholders. You will undertake a brief behavioural profile to understand
your style and how to leverage your strengths. This will help you work even
more effectively with others to achieve your own and the organisation’s
strategy and goals.
Why attend this workshop?
• To develop a more strategic approach to your role
• To understand your personal behavioural style
• To learn to work well with people who are different from you
What you will take away by attending
• How to work strategically and with more purpose
• Understand the strengths of your style and what can limit you

How to handle difficult people &
manage tough situations
Mid Conference Workshop B
Wednesday 1st October, 5:30pm – 8:30pm
As an EA or PA some of the people you come into contact with can be rude,
sarcastic, disrespectful or far worse. Sometimes we have handy tricks up
our sleeve to deal with difficult people, but rarely are they well scripted so
they can just roll off the tongue. Communicating effectively in uncomfortable
situations requires confidence and technique.
This workshop will explore how to deal with every type of bad behaviour
and difficult person with a structured set of strategies and personalised
conversation scripts that can be used whenever they’re needed.
Why attend this workshop?
• Difficult people can make your life miserable – but you can win (and yes it
is a contest!)
• Difficult people thrive on you being bewildered and intimidated – it’s time
to stand up
• Difficult people like to catch you off guard – but you can be prepared for
everything they throw at you
What you will take away by attending
• The 3 things all difficult people have in common and how to use them
• How to mix and match the 21 basic strategies for dealing with bad
behaviour
• Personal conversation scripts
