Mipa Vicrom is a basecoat that creates a chrome-like mirror effect surface. It is intended to coat rims, trim, and other parts. To protect against weathering and mechanical stress, the surface should be recoated with Mipa 2K clearcoats. Mipa Vicrom has a mixing ratio for ready to spray use and can be thinned if needed. It is applied in thin, uniform layers with a spray gun at low pressure to achieve the best mirror effect.

Processing conditions: from +10 °C and up to 75 % relative air humidity.
Do not apply directly on old thermoplastic coatings.
Undercoating: Mipa 2K-topcoats black gloss (e.g. Mipa PUR-T95, PUR HS-T95 or OC-T95).
Recoat within 4 days. Dry the undercoat at least 8 hours at 20 °C or 30 minutes at 60 °C.
Do not sand the surface before the application of Mipa Vicrom „mirror glaze“! Any
defects in paint work should be polished if necessary. It is essential to get a perfectly smooth
and faultless pre-coated surface in order to achieve optimal mirror optics.
Effect finish: When applying Mipa Vicrom „mirror glaze” it is very important to ensure that
only very thin and uniform layers are applied. Therefore we recommend keeping a larger
distance between spray gun and the object surface and not applying too wet coatings. In fact
Mipa Vicrom „mirror glaze“ is applied carefully as mist coat in order to achieve the very best
mirror effect. Keep in mind: the more the black undercoat shows through the better is the mirror
effect.

Remarks:
Clear coat: Recoat Mipa Vicrom „mirror glaze” after approx. 45-60 min. of intermediate
flash-off time at room temperature or after approx. 30 min. at 60°C with Mipa 2K solvent-based
clear coats. Apply a very thin, first layer of solvent-born clear coat, in order not to etch too
much the previous coat Mipa Vicrom „mirror glaze” (this would degrade significantly the
mirror effect). After an intermediate flash-off time of approx. 10-20 minutes the clear coat can
be applied completely.
Tip: The most effective way to avoid etching the Mipa Vicrom „mirror glaze” coat is to apply
a thin layer of Mipa Beispritzlack prior to clear coat application. After 5 minutes flash-off time
the final clear coat can be applied.
