More than 200,000 people in Haiti were killed and over 1.5 million left homeless by the 2010 earthquake that struck Port-au-Prince, Haiti's capital city, on January 12th. Critical infrastructure was destroyed, hampering relief efforts, and Haiti remains the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Students are encouraged to donate spare change and wear red and blue to support relief through the Red Cross.
