IDEOLOGY Ideology ,[object Object]
Ideology explains views, and the plans for the future.
An example is Religion.Mormonism vs. Christianity. They have different beliefs on how you should act as an individual in order to get to heaven. http://www.getreligion.org/2005/10/exalting-the-mormons/
INDIVIDUALISM Individualism is the idea of allowing individuals to look after themselves is the proper way to succeed. Examples is the Liberal Party in Alberta. They say that looking after yourself is right and money from the government will not be granted. American Health Care is an another idea where they have to use there own money to pay for their needs. The government does not support those that need serious medical attention and they have to pay for everything themselves. If you don’t have the money for it, basically you are out of luck. http://politicalhumor.about.com/od/politicalcartoons/ig/Political-Cartoons/Health-Care-Plans.htm
Collectivism is the idea that a group of people with the same interests are more important then what an individual wants for themselves. People should be equal to each other. Collectivism http://www.google.ca/images?um=1&hl=en&safe=active&biw=1419&bih=694&tbs=isch%3A1&sa=1&q=taxes&aq=f&aqi=g10&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai= An example is that we pay taxes to the government so we can have things like school and busing and health care, etc.
Liberalism Liberalism is basically the opposite of collectivism. It is an idea that what an individual has the right to do for themselves in more important then what a group needs. The idea that an individuals freedoms is more important then a community An example is the seat belt law. As a liberal it is your decision to wear it because its only hurting yourself. http://www.google.ca/images?hl=en&source=imghp&biw=1436&bih=699&gbv=2&aq=f&aqi=g10&oq=&gs_rfai=&safe=active&q=seat%20belt&tbs=isch:1
Self interest is a concept in which individuals are responsible for themselves with their own freedom. Self-interest http://www.google.ca/images?um=1&hl=en&safe=active&biw=1419&bih=694&tbs=isch%3A1&sa=1&q=doing+school+work&aq=f&aqi=g1g-m2&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai= An example is us working hard towards our goals in school so that we can have a the job we want in the future.
Competition Competition is building strategy to become the best when going against others. An example is sports. A team is competing against another team to be the winners and prove that they are the best. http://www.google.ca/images?hl=en&safe=active&biw=1436&bih=694&gbv=2&tbs=isch%3A1&sa=1&q=volleyball&btnG=Search&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai= http://www.google.ca/images?hl=en&safe=active&biw=1436&bih=694&gbv=2&tbs=isch%3A1&sa=1&q=soccer&aq=f&aqi=g10&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=
Freedom is an individual being able to express themselves however they want and be who they want to be. FREEDOM In Canada we have the right to be the religion we believe in. Where as in Iraq if you were a missionary working in the hospitals who was Christian, you could get killed for being that different religion. http://www.jewishjournal.com/thegodblog/item/the_intersection_of_religion_and_politics/
Rule of law http://www.google.ca/images?hl=en&source=imghp&biw=1436&bih=699&q=speeding+tickets&gbv=2&aq=f&aqi=g4g-m6&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=&safe=active This is that you are obligated to follow the laws that have been made for your province/country, and if you don’t you will pay for it An example is traffic laws. If you speed or miss a stop sign, you get tickets, and eventually your license taken away.
Having the right to own your own land and having all your freedom to do what you want on your land. Private Property http://www.shawneestructures.com/garage-gallary.html http://www.designerysigns.com/osha-signs.html For example, being able to build a garage on your own private property would be okay, but doing so on land that is owned by the county is something you wouldn’t be able to or would have to get permission first.
Cooperation Cooperation is the act of coming together as a team to reach a goal, and being willing to work with a combined effort. When students go down to Mexico to help build homes for those less fortunate, everyone has to cooperate and work together in order to get the houses done. http://news.therecord.com/sections/Faith/YourSpace
Collective responsibility Collective responsibility is being responsible for the things we do as country. Example: If the soldiers went off and killed innocent people, then that would make us, Canada, responsible for their actions. http://ec.europa.eu/education/eu-canada/doc1563_en.htm
Collective interest Helping a group of people to reach their goal and resolve their concerns. When students in a school come together to serve our environment and build solar panels in the school, other students were willing to help raise money for the good deed and the group was satisfied they are making the world a better place. http://www.icanfixupmyhome.com/ResidentialSolarPanelManufacturers.html
Economic Equality
Collective norms A belief by a community of people that is to be considered normal but to other groups may have different opinions and beliefs. Some groups believe it is okay to have polygamy.
A property that belongs to the government that is used for every ones use not just an individual. Public property An example is LCHS. Taxes are paid by indviduals to make schools for every one. http://www.google.ca/images?hl=en&safe=active&biw=1436&bih=699&gbv=2&tbs=isch%3A1&sa=1&q=high+school&aq=f&aqi=g10&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=
Belief http://www.oralhealthcareprofessionals.com/ An idea that someone has hope and strong faith in. An example is when we are younger we have our minds set that the tooth fairy is real because we believe it.
Something that has a high importance to an individual. Example is how most people value their families and treasures them. Value http://www.google.ca/images?hl=en&source=imghp&biw=1436&bih=694&q=family&gbv=2&aq=f&aqi=g10&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=&safe=active
