1. WHAT MAGAZINE WE CHOSE
We chose to list our double page spread in the
Radio Times because it seems a more serious
magazine. We looked at others such as TV Choice
but this seems very soap based – the kind that will
publish the latest gossip from the television. We
thought our documentary had quite a serious
debate behind it and therefore wanted it to be taken
seriously. The Radio Times also has an older
audience which thought was suitable as our target
audience goes up to people in their 30’s and the
magazine would reach people that maybe the radio
trailer wouldn’t.
2. WHAT RADIO STATION WE CHOSE
We decided that Radio 1 would be the best choice
of radio as it appeals to a range of ages which is
what we wanted the documentary to do. Whereas
other stations such as heart (older people) are
aimed at specific ages of people, radio 1 can vary
from younger teens to people in their 30’s/40’s – the
same as our documentary target audience. We
also considered Capital but decided against this
because we thought it attracted too much of a
younger audience.
