Facebook began in 2004 as a social networking site for college students. It allows users to connect and share with others by creating profiles, messaging, sharing media and participating in groups and events. In education, it can be used to follow class feeds, share book reviews, practice foreign languages, and create collaborative projects to keep students engaged outside of class. While it facilitates communication and collaboration, overuse of non-educational apps can strain eyes and reduce outdoor time.
