The province/region of Avilés, made up of the townships of Avilés,
Castrillón, Illas and Corvera, is located in the central coast of the
Principality of Asturias, halfway between Cabo de Peñas and the mouth of
river Nalón.
It is one of the main three Asturian cities and the closest one to the airport,
located in Castrillón, less than 9 miles away from the capital, Avilés

A walk through the old town of Avilés (declared historic artistic
site) will give you a view of all the different architectural styles
that populate this ancient city known as the medieval village of
Asturias. Walking its streets is like walking through history from
the S. XII to the present, between spaces and buildings
representing the architectural styles of Romanesque, Gothic,
Baroque and Art Nouveau.
If you are travelling with children, we recommend the Ferrera
Park, where the young ones can feed the swan, geese and ducks
that roam freely about.
If you are the seafaring type, take a walk down the estuary and
enjoy a bottle of the local hard cider along with a plate of devil
crabs.
