  1. The economy is a top concern for Canadians, by a wide margin.
  2. A couple of interesting trends I’d like to talk about: Internet access peaked from 00 to 03, 04 saw a measurable jump in both access and hours. 1. Wireless access has jumped from 12-13% in ’02 through ’04, has now reached 34%!! 2. Flattening of the curve until 2004, saw measurable jump Not everyone is online, in fact, 10% of those with access dont use it. A further 10% use Internet less than 1 hr. per week. So only about 60% of Canadians are active users. Also, of those who don’t use/most say it’s lack of interest, not cost 4. Some heavy user groups out there… 15% of Canadians spend 25 hrs or more a week online 30% spend over 13 hrs. per week.
  3. On the graph that shows that 95% use the internet to send e-mail, it makes you wonder what the other 5% are doing. To say you have internet but never send mail is like saying you have a phone but never call anyone Also, I can’t quite figure out how it is that even though we did the survey via email , there’s still that 5%.. We track about 60 online behaviours over the past 10 years. Others: Online photo service (44%) Games online 30% Send joke emails 62% Listen to Radio 50% Use of anti-virus to scan email 86% Receiving computer virus from email Comparison shop Online banking
  4. Women are generally more willing to provide their email address as over seven-in-ten (71%) are willing compared to 60% of men. As can be expected, online shoppers are also much more likely to be willing to provide their email address compared to those who never shop online (69% vs. 47%, respectively).
