1) The document evaluates the ways in which the author's media products used, developed, or challenged conventions of real media. For the teaser trailer, the author analyzed trailers for Saw V, Scream 4, and Paranormal Activity 3 to develop techniques like subtle lighting and ordinary character attire at the beginning.
2) Settings and lighting were sometimes less conventional by using more neutral locations for harsh scenes. Props and colors like red were used conventionally to imply contrast.
3) The evaluation addresses how the author's poster and magazine cover also followed or challenged real media conventions.
2. Questions I will be evaluating.
The questions I will be evaluating are:
1) In what ways does your media product use, develop or
challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
2) How effective is the combination of your main product and
ancillary texts?
3) What have you learned from your audience feedback?
4) How did you use new media technologies in the construction
and research, planning and evaluation stages?
3. For my first question: ‘In what ways does your media product
use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media
products?’ I will divide it into three sections. These sections are
of each product I produced finally which are:
My teaser trailer.
My poster
My magazine cover.
4. In what ways does your media product
use, develop or challenge forms and
conventions of real media products?
Teaser trailer
In my teaser trailer, I used many ways in order to achieve a
developed platform of convention media. This was achieved
through my research into the industry and many other
products prouduced. I was able to used ideas and construct
many of my own to develop my product further. The teaser
trailer’s I reserached were: Saw V, Scream 4 and
Paranormal activity 3.
5. In what ways does your media product use,
develop or challenge forms and conventions of
real media products?
In terms of my Mise-en-scene, I decided that from the
beginning, the setting would be calmer and settle. The lighting
would be more bright and neutral to imply that the character is
of a 'normal' state. The character would have a normal attire
whether a skirt or trousers. Her body language would be of a
reasonable ordinary person. This is conventional as
typically, teaser trailers in the genre of Horror and thiller, bein in
a suttle manner. As well as communicated through sound, there
is also the use of lighting bright colours and the facil expression
of the charcter, (whiter be more relaxed or hostile)
An example of this is shown on the next slide.
6. In what ways does your media product

7. In what ways does your media product use,
develop or challenge forms and conventions of
real media products?
The use of the analysis of the media product, could be
illistarted in my final piece as some parts are quite similar. I
believe that in Saw V, some conventional techniques such
as the use of clips, could be seen as a development for my
final teaser trailer piece.
8. In what ways does your media product
use, develop or challenge forms and
conventions of real media products?
9. In what ways does your media product use,
develop or challenge forms and conventions of
real media products?
A deep contrast in my first point, the lighting would be
darker than in the first scene. The friend of the main
character would also be a contrast to her and also be of a
reasonable ordinary person at that moment in time. This
would be done through her behaviour and attire. This again
is very conventional, because typically, in a teaser trailer
ending or beginning is definite contrast either good or bad
is seen.

use, develop or challenge forms and
conventions of real media products?
11. In what ways does your media product
use, develop or challenge forms and
conventions of real media products?
However, in some scene’s location were not as
conventional. In eariler scenes, a more homly, setting was
introduced to the audience. However, in some areas, as the
teaser trailer progressed, the setting for the more harsh
scenes were very ‘neutral’ in comparision to the harsh
setting displayed when viewing professional products.

real media products?

15. In what ways does your media product use,

16. In what ways does your media product
use, develop or challenge forms and
conventions of real media products?
Even the props used and colours used were very
conventional, the use of red and drak colours implied,
contrast.
