The 5th Edition of Taragalte Festival
As part of the festival, the Cultural Caravan for
Peace is a caravan to support peace, solidarity
and tolerance in the regions of the Sahara and
Sahel. This caravan binds together the three
festivals; Festival Taragalte (Morocco), Festival au
Désert (Mali) and Festival sur le Niger (Mali).

Arrive on your own in Marrakech
Wednesday, November 13
Marrakech / Ait Ben Haddou / Ouarzazate
Morning departure from Marrakech to
Ouarzazate via the Tizi N’Tichka (altitude: 2260
m), through the High Atlas Mountain Range.
Visit the famous Kasbah Telouet (Residence of
the Pacha Glaoui) then continue your journey
through the Valley of Ounila to the Ksar of Ait
Ben Haddou (A World UNESCO Heritage Site)
where many famous films were shot. Arrive at
your hotel in Ouarzazate late afternoon. Dinner
and overnight.
Thursday, November 14
Ouarzazate / The Drâa Valley / M’Hamid
After breakfast, departure for M’Hamid, travelling
through the Drâa Valley via numerous small and
picturesque villages and fortified ksours. Stop for
lunch in Zagora and then continue through the
palm groves of the valley to M’Hamid (the last
village before the Sahara). Transfer to your camp
for the duration of your stay.
Friday 15 to Sunday, November 17
Taragalte Festival
Three days dedicated to music (local and
international) dance, poetry and culture
unplugged. An awareness programme dealing
with;sustainable development in the desert,
renewable energy, recycling of nonbiodegradable products amongst other
things. The programmes involve conferences,
workshops, debates and discussion with local
and international organizations and there will
also be practical applications in the form of
tree planting.Your stay will be in the dunes of
the Sahara and you’ll sleep under nomadic
tents. The cultural and artistic program will be

Monday, November 18
M’Hamid / Tamgroute / Ouarzazate
Departure from M’Hamid in the morning, stop in
the village of Tamgroute where you will visit the
Koranic library, and the local pottery.
Dinner and overnight stay in Ouarzazate.

4. TTuesday, November 19
Ouarzazate / Marrakech
After breakfast departure for your final
destination in Marrakech.
Including:
- Transport in 4x4 (maximum 4 people per
vehicle plus experienced driver) - Marrakech /
Ouarzazate / M’Hamid / Return
- Two nights in a 4 **** hotel in Ouarzazate half
board on 13 and 18 November (2 people/room)
- Four nights in the desert in a bivouac near
the residence of artists (2-4 people / tent) or 4
**** hotel (on request, contact us) half-board
on November 14 and full board from 15 to 17
November.
- The permanent entry to the festival and all
programme activities.
Your own responsibility:
- Lunches outside of festival days 15, 16 and 17
November
- Drinks during your stay (option to buy water
and soft drinks at the Festival site)
