7 INTERESTING GAMES TO BOOST
EMPLOYEE PRODUCTIVITY
1. Game of strength -Tug of War
Encourages staff members to work together, do
physical work, and enjoy the spirit of competition.
How to play
Two simple steps to remember
1. Divide the employees equally into two separate teams
and be considerate of their size and strength.
1. Each team pulls on either end of the rope in an attempt
to pull the other side across the middle line.
This easily provides a visual of what you can achieve when
you work towards one common goal.
2. Game to relieve stress - Hit the mark
Let the employees demonstrate the power of team
encouragement.
How to play
➢ Tape a piece of paper high up on the wall.
➢ A player has to run across the office and jump as high as possible, placing a
mark on the paper. The next player of the opponent team has to place the
mark even higher.
➢ Employees are prohibited to use any kind of help from the team, or a booster
like a chair. Team members are only allowed to engage in verbal
encouragement.
➢ The game finishes when the team is convinced that they can no longer place
the mark higher.
3. Game of creativity - Try and build it
Great game that develops creativity, communication,
and problem solving skills.
How to play
➢ Divide employees into teams.
➢ Give them equal amounts of certain materials such as
pens, pencils, paper, sticky notes, marshmallows, gum,
etc.
➢ Tell them what they need to construct with any of the
given materials. Eg: Tallest and steadiest tower.
➢ You can set your own rules to make the game more
competitive.
4. Game of teamwork - Dig for treasure
An outdoor game perfect for relieving stress and
encouraging teamwork.
How to play
➢ Divide staff members into teams.
➢ Set up treasures anywhere and everywhere outside the
office.
➢ Mark something enticing at several places to give teams
clues.
➢ Find out the best treasure hunting team in your office!
5. Game of observation - Sneak a peek
A wonderful game to refresh and engage a team that
is feeling drained or stressed.
How to play
➢ Divide the group into two equal teams (or roughly equal)
and have them face each by standing on opposite lines.
➢ Choose a team to go first and either give them a minute
to study the opposite line or make them turn around right
away.
➢ Then give the other line a minute or so to change ten
things about themselves. The changes can include
swapping clothing or jewelry, removing or untying shoes,
rolling sleeves, unbuttoning/untucking shirts, etc.
How to play
➢ When time runs out, instruct the first line to turn around
and list the changes that have been made.
➢ Once all changes have been discovered, switch turns and
repeat.
6. Game of teamwork - Minefield
A teamwork exercise that builds communication and
relationship building through trust.
How to play
➢ Objects are scattered across the center of a room and
this area is taped off in a square.
➢ Employees are paired up. One will be blindfolded while
the other is the guide.
➢ The challenge is for the blindfolded employee to make it
from one end of the course to the other through the
minefield, being guided verbally by the other employee.
7. Game of teamwork - Grab bag skits
An acting exercise to encourage teamwork and
collaboration between employees.
How to play
➢ Form groups composed of three to eight people.
➢ Give each group a goodie bag.
➢ Each group needs to create a three minute skit using all
the objects in their goodie bag.
➢ Creativity is encouraged. Example: a pen can be a magic
wand, a stapler can be a microphone, etc.
How to play
➢ As the manager, you can either allow your groups to
make up their own skits, or assign them general topics.
➢ Topics should be work related, maybe acting out a
meeting, process, or event.
➢ Give the groups about five minutes to come up with their
skits.
➢ Each group performs and the winning group can be
awarded anything from a casual dress day to lunch.
