ADJUNCT LECTURER TERM OF REFERENCE (TOR)
Appointment 1. An industrial practitioners but with a minimum qualification of an Honours Bachelor
degree or relevant professional qualifications with a minimum experience of 10 years.
2. The appointment duration is TWO (2) years and Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS may
consider an extension of his/her term period
3. Candidates could be Malaysian or international citizen but must be from locally-based
company. Proposed overseas candidate must get strong justification and recommendation
from Head of Department and subject to Deputy Vice Chancellor of Academic approval.
4. Appointment of Adjunct Lecturer is subjected to Adjunct Lecture Committee Approval.
Duties 5. Teaching
a. A minimum of TWO (2) hours per visit. If teaching days are more than 3 days, course
lecturer has to provide justification and get endorsement from Head of Department prior
approval by DVCA.
b. Impart their professional industrial experience to complement/improve the existing
University’s curriculum to prepare students to the actual industrial expectations.
c. Give talks/lectures/seminars to students, staff and other PETRONAS employees.
6. Research
a. Encouraged to identify and assist in research projects
b. Assist in collaboration with the industry where Adjunct Lecturer’s area of expertise or
other related industries both local and abroad.
5. Supervision
Encouraged to co-supervise at least ONE (1) PhD student.
6. Promotion of UTP
a. Enhance industry-university partnership and broaden networking between industry-
university.
b. Introduce at least ONE (1) new industry for collaboration and internship placement.
7. Render expertise in the consultancy work undertaken by UTP.
8. Perform any other appropriate duties as determined/requested by the university.
Benefits and
Entitlement
9. According to UTP’s HRM staff benefits and entitlement.
Honorarium 10. The honorarium payable to the Adjunct Lecturer RM400.00 (Ringgit Malaysia Four
Hundred only) for non-PETRONAS and RM200.00 (Ringgit Malaysia Two Hundred only)
for PETRONAS staff per diem.
General
Information
11. Adjunct Lecturer is not considered as permanent or a contract staff of UTP.
12. Adjunct Lecturer must abide by PETRONAS Code of Conduct and Business Ethics.
