4. Haptic Technology
Haptic Device
The term ‘Haptic’ means sense of touch.
It adds a sense of touch to the virtual environment.
Haptic technology refers to the science of applying
sensation to human interaction with the computers.

5. What is Haptic device?
Haptic device is mechanical device that mediate communication
between computer and the user.
Haptic Device
Haptic devices are responsible for applying touch sensation and
control to interaction with virtual objects or virtual
environment.
The user could feel the sensation of touching the virtual objects-
like textures, shape, edges or weight.
The computer communicates sensation by using Haptic
interface.

Haptic devices have one of the high levels of interaction.
Haptic Device
It is used for input as well as output to a computer.
Through the Haptic device user can get feedback in the form of
feel of touch.
A user can receive sensational feedback from the computer as
output.

8. Senseg Tablet
Haptic Device
It is a new generation of ‘Haptics’.
It has a ‘Feel screen’ technology.
A user can feel the different textures of
graphics on the flat surface of this
tablet.
It provides tactile feedback.

How does the Sensege tablet work?
The principal of attraction between
Haptic Device
electrical charges has been used.
The electrode is activated by passing
electric current to the insulated
electrode.
Electrostatic field based system
creates degree of fraction between
fingers and flat screen.

10. Simodant (Dental trainer)
It is being used by UIC college of dentistry
to train the students.
Haptic Device
It is a dental training devise.
It is completely combination of virtual and
Haptic.
It allows user to operate dental procedure
in realistic virtual environment while
receiving Haptics.
Tasks are being done as if it had performed
on live patients.

11. Phantom Phantom had developed by Geomatic company.
Haptic Device
It is a small robot arm with three revolute
joints each connected to the computer
The tip of this devise has stylus which is
Haptic interface.
The stylus has been held by the user.
It provides force feedback- force and
directional force

Safe:
Haptic Device
Realistic
experience:
12
• This technology allows you to see,
manipulate and feel the many
things so that it turns into a realistic
experience of learning.
• The user is in a virtual environment
while using Haptic devices.
