Paul offers his readers frequent treatments of and references to the Return of Christ. In this presentation, I examine one of his two quintessential rapture/resurrection passages and seek to place its elements in the context of our everyday Christian life.
2. Modern Christians too easily treat
teachings on the Rapture and
Resurrection as optional add-ons to an
otherwise effective Christian life.
Paul considered these teachings
âelementaryâ (Hebrews 6:1) with respect
to the Christian experience.
So, dear Watson, letâs deal with all
things elementary.

5. I CORINTHIANS 15:50
THE
PROBLEM:
We cannot enter
the kingdom of
God in our
fleshly bodies
50. Now I say this,
brethren, that flesh
and blood cannot
inherit the kingdom
of God; nor does the
perishable inherit
the imperishable.
6. I CORINTHIANS 15:51
THE SOLUTION:
51. Behold, I tell
âWEâ all change:
you a mystery; we
both those who
will not all sleep,
âSLEEPâ and those
but we will all be
who do not sleep at

EVENT 2:
âWeâ (the living and

âchangeâ together.
52. in a moment, in
the twinkling of an

trumpet will sound,
and the dead will be

and we will be

FOR THIS âCHANGEâ
8. And they left the tomb
quickly with fear and great
joy and ran to report it to His
disciples. 9. And behold,
Jesus met them and greeted
them. And they came up and
took hold of His feet and
worshiped Him. 10. Then
Jesus said to them, âDo not
be afraid; go and take word
to My brethren to leave for
Galilee, and there they will
see Me.â (Matt 28)
37. But they were startled
and frightened and thought
that they were seeing a
spirit. 38. And He said to
them, âWhy are you
troubled, and why do doubts
arise in your hearts? 39.
âSee My hands and My feet,
that it is I Myself; touch Me
and see, for a spirit does not
have flesh and bones as
you see that I have.â (Luke

amazement, He said to
them, âHave you anything
here to eat?â 42. They
gave Him a piece of a

24. But Thomas, one of the
twelve, called Didymus, was
not with them when Jesus

âWe have seen the Lord!â But
he said to them, âUnless I see

31. Then their eyes were opened and
they recognized Him; and He
vanished from their sight. (Luke 24)

He Himself stood in their midst and said
to them, âPeace be to you.â(Luke 24)
26. After eight days His disciples were again inside,
and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors
having been shut, and stood in their midst and said,
âPeace be with you.â (John 20)

54. But when this
perishable will have
put on the imperishable,
and this mortal will
have put on immortality,
then will come about
the saying that is

WHERE IS YOUR

of death is sin, and the
power of sin is the law;

God, who gives us the
victory through our
Lord Jesus Christ.

19. PAULINE PRACTICE
Paul does not leave later
Christians wondering what they
should DO NOW
with this information:
Paul tells us how we APPLY
this information
to our walk with the Lord.
20. I CORINTHIANS 15:58
APPLICATION
Renewed courage
Continued effort
Strengthened hope
58. Therefore, my
beloved brethren,
be steadfast,
immovable, always
abounding in the
work of the Lord,
knowing that your
toil is not in vain in
the Lord.
